The one (BB) close to us was franchised and would you believe they would not rent DVD's while Hollywood Video, Kroger Grocery and local mom and pop did rent DVD's. They finally did start but it was quite some time after the others. Then in 2006 we were introduced to Netflix disc by mail and have been with them since then. Really convenient, large selection and no late fees!!! Too bad that service is US only.
The ones I worked at were all corporate stores. There were no franchise locations in my area.

I remember you telling me that. I was at AMC Theaters as a manager for 6 years or so prior to Blockbuster but I started out as a projectionist. Still the greatest job I ever had (projectionist, not manager ). Too bad it didn't pay more. Of course now the job doesn't even exist in the chain theaters. Everything is digital.

My orders for two pairs of SVS Prime Elevation speakers and 200' of 14 gauge speaker wire should arrive Thursday and Friday respectively. Hopefully, I do not injure myself mounting them to the walls.

Now its time to budget for that subwoofie; it will be an REL. My movie budget has been torpedoed for this quarter. You'll all have to take up my slack and buy the discs that I normally would have over this period.

Default I need to give an update regarding the YT version of Jaws Digital HD

I need to give an update and a discovery I did regarding Jaws Digital HD on Youtube, I discovered something. Back then I wrote this and I'll selectively quote:

Yes, Youtube's version of Jaws only has 480p as the maximum option, not 1080p.
But now, when I played Jaws on Youtube on one of my blu-ray player and on my PS4, it now has option of 720p & 1080p on Youtube. The PC is still only allowed to 480p. This is taken from my PS4's YT app:

Yep, Jaws on Youtube can now be displayed at 1080p instead of 480p on PC. So can anybody explain that?

Let me put it this way if Phineas buys 4 10$ films on physical media a month to watch (and the rest stuff in his collection) and Suzy spends 10$ a month for her streaming service her streaming service (or she can add more for more content) can quadruple and she will still feal she has a better deal then Phineous. there is no way the two can compete on price unless one adds extrenuating circumstances (i.e. Month X Phineous did not buy anything but was still able to watch his films while Suzy had to pay her 10$ or she lost access to all the content.

As to this post, I fully agree with you. When I first started collecting that was the major reason, I went to the rental store, looked for the film I wanted to watch and it was no longer there on the shelf, that is when I decided to buy films that were important to me, it then expended to why would I want to deal with going going to the rental place and now to why would i want to waste my time on a low quality version of the film. But I am not everyone we all have stuff that is important to each of us. Like Lees chart shows people that do streaming do so because it is cheap, "being able to watch the content I want" did not even make it to the list (the closest to that concept is live content that was dead last) there was resolution which fell low in the list but even then it the quality of that resolution did not make the list. To put a fun spin on this there is a reason it is called Netflix and chill, no one cares what is playing it is just an excuse for "chilling" ( or background noise or an excuse to sit on their a$$.). That might not be what I am about and maybe not what you are about but in the end every person is different. I don't care if my car has no luxury features and is starting to rust since it is still exceptionally good at getting me from A to B. But for others a car is a status symbol, for others they care about a luxurious ride, others like to see power..... and even though peoples priorities at the individual level can change at the end of the day there will always be people that care what they watch when they sit down and people that want the cheapest option.
Let me put it in a way for you to explain. What is your favorite TV shows from your childhood, Anthony?

Let say your favorite TV shows has been made available on Netflix or Prime Video, and 2 months later you found out that show (the one that is your favorite from your childhood) is no longer available. That's exactly the situation with mine.

I've been wanting to watch The Outer Limits (the 1963 version) ever since I've first heard about it 15 years ago. When it was made available in HD on Prime Video last year (I believe), I was excited and I watched like 9 or 10 episodes on Prime. But now recently, I wanted to watch another episodes (I didn't get chance for the last few months because of priorities changes), but when I logged in to Prime Video and tried to find it, I found out it's no longer available, and it looks like it may never return to Prime Video.

This is why I find streaming frustrating, and hence why I have a love-hate relationship with streaming. The Outer Limits disappearing from Prime Video is one of the reason of that love-hate relationship with streaming.

Just make sure the ladder you use is rated for the the total weight that will be on it and do not step above the last rated step. This from first hand experience, I have one plate, several pins and screws in my left knee. Could have been avoided if I had purchased a taller ladder and rated for heavier loads. Insurance covered most of the medical bills but we still paid out many thousands.

Film Industry in Canada Keeps Up Production Amid COVID-19 Rise: "Everyone Is on High Alert" - Hollywood Reporter. 1/4/21

Quote:
Ontario called a month-long lockdown for Toronto to start on Dec. 26 and set a new limit of no more than 10 performers on a film set as production continues.

Months-long efforts by Canadian studio operators, producers, unions and guilds to work with top studios to bolster on-set coronavirus safety measures for actors and crews, including testing, have so far paid off. "Ultimately, we don't want any exposure on set. Everybody has to ensure the safety of the crew, to ensure production keeps going," Chemweno added.
SAG-AFTRA and Producers Guild Recommend "Temporary Hold on In-Person Production" in Southern California - Hollywood Reporter 1/3/21

Quote:
SAG-AFTRA, the Joint Policy Committee and the Producers Guild of America on Sunday recommended a "temporary hold on in-person production" amid the pandemic.

"In light of the capacity crisis facing Southern California hospitals due to the COVID pandemic and an anticipated post-holiday surge of COVID cases, SAG-AFTRA and organizations representing commercial advertisers and advertising agencies and independent film and television producers have reached agreement on recommending a temporary hold on in-person production in Southern California," they said in a joint release. "The major studios and streamers are already on production hiatus in Southern California until mid-January."
The pandemic has really delayed productions. I see a lot of very late new shows and existing show scheduling from OTA/streaming offerings. As far as movies go, I guess we can say there is a good size beaver dam of movies never distributed during 2020, that will some how be scheduled later 2021. Makes for not the best year of buying physical media.

Where is the heck is Lawrence of Arabia on a 4K? Don't want that limited Sony set.

If you really wanted the Outer Limits, should have got it on Blu-ray when its is on sale. Favorite episode is Demon with a Glass Hand.

I'm not worried about the ladder nor my weight, but I do have unpredictable bouts of vertigo to make this project a tad more challenging. I may ask a friend for assistance.

I am looking forward to hearing what this does for my home theater experience. The speakers have shipped, but the wire is taking its time in doing so.

Two things that are making me happy today are my Panasonic UB420 UHD player and my Game of Thrones UHD box set.

I guess it's not "the future" but it's definitely the now. It's so fun to revisit this story in higher quality.

He is just making sure the UHD version is the best by looking at all the inferior options.

I’m getting a PS5 and a Dolby Atmos sound bar for the bedroom tv if that counts?

Sorry Steedeel, do not know anything about sound bars. In the US the rags give good reviews to Sonos products, I only look at the + & – section. We use our bedroom TV's to unwind watching old content.

I’m flinging the PS5 in there. I have a chair next to my bed so it’s good for gaming and relaxation.

Even If HBO Max saw triple in comparison to a typical day in the previous month with WW84 being available, once you move past this initial viewing of WW84 will a large number of people that were using some cheap way to access HBO Max remain subscribers? Thats the real question. Disney did really well with Soul comparing reviews between both films.
What a weird question considering we're getting 17 movies from them this year day and date.
