Really nice to see the independents releasing on UHD BD.
Agreed. But that makes Criterion's refusal to go UHD all the more frustrating. I keep hearing rumors this will be the year but we'll see.

I have the 2011 BD from Severin. I have no memory of what it looks/sounds like. Now that the 4K has been announced for late April, I'm just going to wait until that is released to re-watch.

I did read in another thread that Severin confirmed that this will not have HDR, just SDR 4K, so we'll see how that goes.

I’m considering that one also.

I’ve had many Sony projectors and my experiences have been great with them!

I put lots of hours on mine so the lamp version with X1 may be better for me.

Does make one . My current model is Sony VPL-VW600. Gives me pause the LED light source is not user replaceable and cost a lot of money to replace after the warranty period.

Kirs Deering really likes the JVC DLA-NX9 and I had hoped there may be a new model for 2020 but it was not to be. Still looking into native UHD DLP projectors but not many have 3D.

My speaker wire finally arrived, so the project to add 4 height speakers to my set-up begins tomorrow. A friend will mount them to the walls for me so as not to risk my falling off of a step ladder; vertigo sucks.

I will have to decide what ATMOS encoded content to play first... and second...and third...

Good luck with the install tomorrow! Sounds like a fun way to spend a Saturday.

It sounds like the wiring will be on the outside, the best runs are behind the drywall. I remember my first house back in the '70's in San Jose, CA I ran some speaker wiring before the drywall was up. I think that is the hardest part of Hardwire to make it look all professional.

All of that is a cosmetic consideration. Whether or not the speaker wire is visible will make no functional difference.

Once I know for certain that I am happy with the speaker placement I can then decide if I wish to conceal the wires; the wire I bought is NEC 725 Class 2 rated. The friend who is helping me to mount them is a professional carpenter and we will discuss that at a later date.

You have Game Of Thrones don’t you? Several amazing moments throughout. Most of the scenes with dragons for a start!

Film wise, my pick would be Fury Road and GOTG 2.

I’m sure you will enjoy the heck out of it. I was also lucky to get help with mine, when I say help, he did virtually everything!

Ready Player One is a fun way to test a new Atmos setup.

I just ordered 2 new bulbs for my projector. Hopefully laser based projector will be my next upgrade.

Unless someone can deliver it on disc, I’m going to be spending all day streaming the playoffs.

I own seasons 1-7 on blu and season 8 on 4K. I have not seen any of this show past season 3. It looks like only season 5 and beyond has ATMOS...at least on the blus.

And you thought it was only Twin Peaks that I had delayed viewing.

Exactly my situation before I bought the whole kit on 4K.

The 4K doesn't come with any Blu Rays so there wasn't a lot of overlap.

The point is that those schemes were ultimately aborted, their hardware now literally useless. This latest iteration will now stream directly to TVs rather than an external box but the premise is still the same: Sony have an exclusive service that will channel chunky 4K streams of their films to the viewer, but how many people will even have fookin 100MB+ internet to make it worthwhile?

I can really relate to that, about two years ago came down with Acute Labrynthitis. Took over 4 months and lots of PT to mostly recover.

Did you download any of the immersive audio files from here? If not then you ought to check out some of them, place on a thumb drive and plug into your 203.

Some titles that I like for Atmos: Blade Runner, Blade Runner 2049, The House With A Clock In Its Walls, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, The Great Wall, Independence Day: Resurgence, Mad Max: Fury Road and Unbroken (air battle scenes).

He's got a good point.

I agree wit the first point, but the latter one is ridiculous. Why would the rest of them take note of a doomed to failure service (at least according to the poster)? Even if it was not doomed to failure it would still be irrelevant, does McD take notice of the new high end restaurant in the area? these two services serve very different clienteles.

Yet the FMP-X10 is still available at Amazon which is really weird because Sony closed the download store quite sometime back. Sold my X10 years ago. Users at AVS said their FMP-X10's stopped playing purchased content on the HDD sometime back as well. IIRC, the Netflix and Amazon streaming apps no longer work.

I agreed with you, there is very little chance of this going anywhere. My point was simply from a TV point of view smart Tvs is a common feature even in lower end models these days so everything needed is there (does not drive the cost of Tv manufacturing up. From a back end perspective Sony owns the content and with PSN and other stuff they already have the infrastructure to do this in place so the cost can be negligible. IMHO Sony has very little to lose, now if someone buys this Tv because of the feature that helps them and if one day they stop it or they decide to charge for it the guy might complain but at that point it won't make a difference (by the time he upgrades the TV his anger will have subsided). I don't see a real negative side for Sony by trying this one more useless time.
