Just again watched "The Little Prince". This charming animated feature is a perfect example of 3D elevating an already beautiful production to an entirely higher level of visual and audio immersion. Just watch the film flat to understand how less absorbing the viewing experience (not the story itself) is seen in this manner.

Many scenes have limited depth but this is intentional to create a bigger impact on the particular scene that follows.

Beautiful 3d picture quality and a powerful Dolby True 5.1 soundtrack makes this a winner. I have the Hong Kong release which is region A with English audio and along with two in Cantonese. There is also a French edition which includes French audio instead

Recently I've seen some films that have pop out but it is not as strong as it should be, so it really only stands out if you do the Go Find Fun test (moving your head laterally while the scene is paused).

Sadly, the Go Find Fun videos, which demonstrate this technique, oversell a lot of pop out because if you aren't using his technique when watching the film then it doesn't pop nearly as well.

Mild pop out trumps no pop out, but if a film's pop out isn't causing viewers to duck it or reach out to grab it (and is instead causing them to sway side-to-side...) then it's fun but a missed opportunity.
Well yea, you're right. There's also another factor. For such high contrast black to laser light awesomeness that this flick embodies you also have the problems that a bloomin lcd can provide; ditto an active line bleedin plasma.

With pin sharp razor contrast it becomes clear what the major money scenes were going for in this one.

Yes improved color and contrast can make a difference. I'm sure some of the improvements I've seen in also Tron Legacy is down to improved picture quality. But the movie is in 3D and not totally flat because there are some genuine 3D moments that have also improved so anything that helps in that regard is fine by me. What I won't do is suddenly decide that the Tron Legacy Grid scenes have medium 3D. As I said before it's mild to very mild, but it is 3D.

I do quite often think about "upgrading" my VR hmd but this may be another example of why I should stick with my old device. When configured correctly, the OLED lenses are plainly superior to any LED VR display.

Watched Monster Hunter. Not a very good movie. The 3D was lite but the soundtrack was exceptional. Enter at your own risk. Of course there is Milla. I got the 3D and the 4K.

Totally agree. It's one of those movies in my collection that I don't think I would miss if I got rid of it. The movie is passable at best and so is the 3D. I don't get the good reviews I remember seeing about the 3D. The only reason I keep it is that I think that maybe with some changes I will see something else.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen with some of the best 3D scenes I have ever seen. Normally this combination works fine for me. But this movie regularly succeeds in its struggles to heroically overcome even the best 3D moments. After watching this, the stiff acting + stiff writing made me push Valerian further down my 3D watch stack.

found Rescue 3D from Sunrise Records in the bargain bin. 6$ total. been a while since I've seen a 3D title there.

As PanMan said I liked the movie, also. And leave Valerian on the bottom your loss. Both are good imo.

I appreciate that Channing Tatum goes the extra mile to do his own stunts, and got more severely injured to that end than even Tom Cruise. However, he is still quite possibly the worst actor of our time.

Valerian is mild in contrast: you have a leading guy who is supposed to be a renown space cop, and has lines straight out of a bodice ripper (is that only an Americanism?), but he looks like he's an edgy sophomore and his line delivery is like Kip/Napoleon Dynamite.

Having recently seen GI Joe, The Great Waaaaahhhhllllll, and WarCraft, I'd say Valerian is closer to those.

GI Joe looks decent enough and I like the Great Waaahll and Warcraft a lot. Matt Damon reminds me a little of Brie Larson in Captain Marvel. Both are standoffish characters (but only one of them IRL) but I think that's what the character would be like so it works for me. So you've pushed Valerian back up the stack ... a little. But I know Valerian probably has the best 3D of the lot so you never know

I haven't seen it recently to be certain, I should, but Valerian might be rivaled by those other flicks.

For example, GI Joe had CGI fireflies that were murder-drones, and I noticed them popping into the screen. I've read on here that Valerian has pop-in but I didn't really notice it myself. But with all except the strongest 3D, as you know all too well, tweaking the setup makes a big difference, so I have to check Valerian again now.

Similarly, a few weeks ago a discussion here got me to rewatch the Pirates IV 3D trailer found on the Tron Legacy 3D disc. It was much more 3D than I remember the film being, when I watched it in VR, and it still was when I saw it again via active projection, but less so than it was in VR.

On the waaaahlll, when I had skimmed through the film before, I thought that Matt Damon's performance was very wooden, much more so than Pedro & Willem. But seeing the whole film, he seemed more fluid. Maybe context matters?

I still am of the opinion that Go Find Fun oversold the pop out in it as he does a slow-mo linger on a popout shot that only lasts a split second in the actual film. But the film itself did not disappoint me on its 3D; was Damon's shield toss in this more 3D than any time Captain America tossed his shield?

Can’t remotely relate, loved practically everything about this criminally underrated film. Jupiter Ascending is one of the most enjoyable sci-fi/fantasy epics I’ve seen in quite some time, and the 3-D is absolutely superb, at least we can agree on that. I’m so glad I didn’t get put off by the bad word of mouth.

From what I have seen it might be rivalled by those other movies but not beaten. Maybe I will talk myself into watching it for that reason alone.

You have got to be joking. I've only skimmed through the movie but that pop-in stands out (stands in ?) a mile. The one I'm talking about is when the stupidly shaped alien craft flies into the screen and boy does it fly right in.

Context (almost always) matters

Fantastic beasts the crimes of grindelwald, for me not as good a movie as the first one and although there is some very good 3D the overall image is pretty gloomy on an active setup.

Rewatched "Ghost in the Shell" with my brother.

This is 3D eye candy from the start to the end with lots of "wow, this looks incredible" 3D moments. Presented in opened up aspect ratio with perfect picture & sound.

This is one of the best 3D Blu-ray's ever made!
