As for "basic business logic", I think a late May release of Star Wars would prove far more problematic for Warner's Justice League in June, not The Avengers, which gets the jump on everyone.

We'll see. Won't we.
Yes, we will certainly see. Look, I'm not trying to arue with you to be mean. I wholeheartedly hope I'm wrong and we get Star Wars in May of 2015. But with Abrams not commiting to that date, his directing habits, that summer being already cramped, and the history and tactics of hollywood business I just don't see it happening. Winter is looking more and more likely.

J.J. Abrams' is locked in to direct "Star Wars: Episode VII," but fans might have to wait a little while before it winds up in theaters.
When Disney purchased Lucasfilm, the studio announced that "Episode VII" would arrive in theaters at some point in 2015. Now, according to THR, that date could change. Per the trade, Abrams hasn't "committed" to the 2015 release date, meaning "Star Wars: Episode VII" could arrive later than initially anticipated.
As fans of Abrams know, that's just how the director works. The "Star Trek" sequel, "Star Trek Into Darkness," was originally supposed to arrive in theaters in June of 2012, but Abrams pushed the date back nearly full year to make sure he was able to finish "Super 8." "Star Trek Into Darkness" will now arrive in theaters on May 17.
Abrams has a full plate already: He's finishing up "Star Trek Into Darkness" and will have press commitments for that sequel later this year; he's also a producer on "Mission: Impossible 5" and "Star Trek 3," whenever those films happen, not to mention his work on television, which is nothing short of prolific. (Good luck trying to keep up with all the TV projects with Abrams' named attached.)
Then there's "Star Wars."
"You know, obviously, it's so early," Abrams said about his plans for the franchise at the Producers Guild Awards on Saturday. "I can just say what I want to do: I want to do the fans proud. I want to make sure the story is something that touches people. And we're just getting started. I'm very excited."
For more on Abrams, head over to THR.

And as for Justice League, WB top brass have said that Justice League moving forward is entirely dependent on Man of Steel's success. At this point, Justice League is a none factor.

Hey, check out how they did this stunt.

Not sure if this has been posted anywhere, but Disney/Lucasfilm just announced they've canned Episode II and III 3D to focus on VII.

I agree, even though Lucas owns the First 6, I doubt Fox would let that happen. Who knows? Just have to wait until 2015-2016

I probably wasn't going to see these anyway, but I don't understand how the 3D release of these takes so much away from Star Wars VII. It's not like VII will be getting 3D converted at the same time.

Yeah, I don't know either. As far as I know they're still working on the script, so I'm not sure why they can't spare some people to continue working on the 3D. It's not like they have to film.

Well I'm pretty sure they've been canned. From what they said on the website, they're "postponing" them to work on 7, and that would mean 8 and 9 too. So when are we going to see the re-releases? 2022? trust me, they've been cancelled.

what does it matter- the conversion for Ep I was so bas that I left and complained to theater manager who in turn gave me my money back

And IMO, Ep 2 is the most boring of the prequel trilogy, so I was skipping that one anyway.

I was curious to see what they could do with the OT, but I can wait in light of getting Ep VII

It doesn't. Companies lie all the time to protect the value of their brands. The idea that re-releasing a ten-year-old movie somehow is a big distraction from Episode VII is PR spin, nothing more. Personally, I think they were concerned about the box office, and Disney being embarassed after spending 4 billion for the brand, so they'll wait until the iron is a bit hotter.

That is true - I shouldn't have said "every" one, but I didn't think it through really. The more famous Disney cartoons mostly have singing in them, is probably what I meant to say

For me wooden acting first and foremost shows the failure to the actors themselves. Actors must do their job, bring out all the skills and emotions, imagining things is part of the challenge even in contemporary drama and theaters. When we see bad acting, it's both the actor's bad for not able to perform, and to the director for approving it. I've seen many movies with bad scripts and direction can be saved by performances of the actors, often I heard "that actor was the only good thing in that movie". So in my opinion it's not fair to put the blame entirely on the director.
