It's not until you get to the Studio or maybe even the SE line because they use the Studio drivers that you really need to feed them really high current. I wouldn't spend the extra money for the 11's if I were you, save the cash and put it somewhere else in your system. The Monitor 9's will come close enough that you'll never know the difference unless you have them side by side, even then the difference's won't be huge. They sound good for the price range that they're in and mate well with receiver's, a good value if you like the sound of them. Listen to what you have available in your area and choose the best one that fits your budget.
Thanks. So around 100db is when the tweeter got harsh, interesting. My Yamaha maxes out at around 20 db, so I think I'm safe.

Yeah the Monitor 11s are $1100/pair and the Monitor 9s are $800/pair. I'll be sure to listen to both if I can, that's a $300 price difference, so I might just get the Monitor 9s, but I'll let my ears be the judge.

There's not much else in my area that fits my budget, most other speakers are beyond my budget, so the Paradigms might be my best choice as long as I like the sound they produce, which I'm sure I will.

I think he was referring to 20 db over reference level.

It is a certainty it's way beyond 20db as 20 db is almost silent

What I was referring to was the volume on my receiver. I just tried and it maxes out at 16.5 db. My receiver goes from -80 db (mute) to +16.5 db (max).

Sorry if I confused anyone.

Yup this is what i was talking about this is just to a volume called reference level. 0db is reference level.

You can certainly do a google search about it to find out what it's about i am not going to get too technical about it.

I kind of thought we were talking about the same thing just in different wording.

So 100db must be ear splitting then.

well you should achieve this level with your receiver as I said this 20 db you see on your receiver is 20 db above the reference level which correspond to something I have no time to explain now but as I said goole Reference Level and you will understand what the 20 db on your receiver stands for.

100 db is loud but a lot of car stereo can hit over 130db. I am sure you will enjoy the Monitors

callas -

Yes, I have an Onkyo HT-RC360 (which is virtually identical to a 609 sans THX certification).

BTW, how much does the Monitor Gold line run? I like the slim cabs of the gold line over the silver line. I can't afford either, but I like to dream.

Someone posted the new Monitor Series 7 today on the avsforum

Kind of looks like a blend of a Paradigm SE/Monitor Audio Silver/Revel Concerta/KEF Q Series. Nice clean front baffle with no screws. Too bad they don't have a center speaker like the CC-390 anymore..

Wow, that sucks... I would have loved to have had a shot at your sub 15.

The ULS-15 didn't "play" nice with my equipment or room. It was sent back on Thursday.

Sorry, if I had known you would be interested then maybe we could have reached a deal. I've given up posting anything for sale on this site, tried a couple of times and it didn't go well.

I have a question about the speakers I have.

I have the Paradigm 5seMK3 that has a 8" woofer and the 7seMK3 that has 2 6 1/2" woofers. What speakers should be used for the front, or does it matter? I would think the the 5seMK3 because it has the bigger woofer and cabinet. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
