Previously,

You could select a user in the Party & mute them specifically. When doing this, you would no longer hear them, & they would no longer hear you.

Now if you do the same thing. You won’t hear the user you muted but they will hear you unless that user also mutes you.

That is just whack.

Definitely odd but, again, moot for me as I only party chat with real life friends and never have a need to mute any of them. But sucks for people who party up with randoms from LFG sites for games like Destiny etc. as I definitely needed to mute some idiots and *******s back when I was doing that. I quit that years ago though and now stick with single player games, mp stuff I can play solo and a few coop things like Borderlands with actual friends. I’ll never touch anything that requires me to party up with randoms again.

Ever since updating whenever I want to log in appearing offline from the user menu it doesn’t work and logs me in as online. Anyone else experiencing this?

A while back, it corrected itself over time. Not had this issue as recently as the update though.

I am now. I've been trying to do it since yesterday and I'm even making sure I pick "Appear as Offline" but when it takes me in I appear Online

I think it was a update that led to my issue. It’s quite a common one I think. I did not

do anything, it just corrected over time. Hopefully yours will.

It was likely brought up already, but why did they remove the name label that showed what console you were on? Now it's been replaced with by some PS icon. Ugh, I don't like this update.

I've been disconnected from the psn 3 times today.

I'm getting the "lost connection to server" screen constantly, but it's only happening with Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer. Ironically it doesn't really disconnect me, the screen just pops up randomly in the middle of the gameplay.

Haven’t seen my “online” friends party up since the update.

I think they’ve moved on as they are rarely online anymore. I warned them about this update since we here got the news back in July.

Okay, so generally i don't tread in here often and that's because you rarely need to to but good lord is this a massive screw up by Sony.

Their intentions interesting with how it supposedly is going to work on PS5 but that should complement the existing ability of what we had and not rip it out and replace directly on top which has caused all these issues.

The best thing to do imo is 100% revert it to the way it was on PS4 and tweak it slightly for cross gen parties where PS5 users only see the specific options geared towards functionality for that console.

I know some will choose to switch platforms because of this update. Not very good timing on Sony’s part either with the Series X a few weeks out.

Yeah, the group thing with parties sucks and is confusing. I don’t personally care about the record thing as I don’t chat with randos and just real life friends. But the new set up is crappy and weird with the groups and having various ones with different combos of friends that make it confusing when another friend signs on and wants to jump in.

This update is so bad that whenever I'm playing Ghost of Tsushima online, I randomly get a "lost connection to server" screen when in reality I'm not losing any connection.

I don't think it's the game, but the console's update.

I've mentioned this in the PS+ thread but worth posting here. My console has started crashing a lot on games and also now locking up on Vampyr on quite a few occasions. Not to even mention the friends list constantly vanishing and whatnot.

Parties are an absolute mess. They need to roll back the update imo because this screwed everything up for PS4 users and tbh, i do NOT think the way they'll make it out for PS5 will be great UNLESS you can also create independent parties without this stupid messaging group crap.

Not to mention the mute issue on mics too.

Sony I believe is testing the waters to see how much crap they can get away with before people jump ship.

Party update is definitely a bummer on many fronts. Had to make an Alt account just to be able to set up a group to go into a party by myself, which I always do when playing solo with randoms to avoid the hassle of figuring out how to mute everyone in game.

I got kicked from the psn 5 times today while playing borderlands 3.

I do not know what the hell they've done but since this new FW update, i've been playing Vampyr as i would any other game and the amount of console lock ups is constant and that can occur simply running around the map, during a fight etc. and it's infuriating me. This FW updates absolutely disgusting and imo, i fear it could genuinely brick my base PS4.
