I and others I am sure are well aware that the "official" announcements are not due until Monday. Even you knew. Next time label them as "predictions" and save some of us the confusion.

Anyone know if the inserts (books, call it what you will) are available in pdf? Looking for alternate ways to browse, and it seems like it would be great on the ole iPad.

Not that I'm aware of, but most of them are on Criterion's site under each respected title's page. So, that would still require some type of internet connection. You could always copy and paste them from Criterion's site into some other type of document that you could read offline.

Since Joe Dalek brought this up again, I think that it is fair enough that the day before the weekend where the announcement date is in question a request for a little clarity isn't out of the question.

It's a Criterion threads so we have to be pricks to each other, but I can see where the guy is coming from.

Move on? Funny how you are the guy to bring this up when it WAS NOT even directed at you. Do you not find your pal Shell capable of defending himself? Or are you ALWAYS that guy?

Has anyone ever just taken the words right out of your mouth on these forums and you no longer feel the need to post a reply? I think if 50 people were confused by the post there would not be 50 replies about how confused they all were. There might be a response or two and once you see someone else has covered what you were going to say than you no longer feel the need to chime in. Surely you can understand.

I was not confused. The post was misleading. Mind yours.
In the name of cinema I can now move on

You sure have a way with words, Joe! While we are on this topic, do you have any predictions for August?

Forgive my ignorance on this, but has The Game been officially announced for a BD release?

And just to be sure, we are talking about the 1997 David Fincher film, yes?

This week I watched all seven films (although none of the supplementary material) that comprise the America Lost and Found boxset. Every movie was a first-time viewing for me. Not every film was successful, but it was a very interesting experience to look at the world as it was forty years ago as it was interpreted through these films. And, clearly Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces, and The Last Picture Show are iconic monuments in American film history. Very satisfying, and I definitely recommend the entire set.

I'm really looking forward to The Great Dictator, but I don't know if I should wait for the BN sale or just bite the bullet and go Amazon for 26.99

Decisions... Decisions...

Has it been "officially announced?" No, but it's been mentioned quite a few times in this thread that "The Game" is, indeed, coming to Criterion at some point.

The last article with David Fincher, though, indicated that it would probably be a while.

Let me find the article for the searching-impaired.

Here is the link to my original post back in December 2010. It has the link to the whole interview with David Fincher.

No, "The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button" case has always been a standard blue-colored 2-disc blu-ray case. It was basically a Paramount release with Criterion branding. The first pressings did come with a cardboard slipcover that went over the case, though.

DC; there aren't many major changes but just see his preferred version.

Watched Blow Out last night. I have not seen this film since the late eighties on a 15" black and white screen, needless to say this was quite the experience. A fantastic presentation with flawless PQ and a wonderful score to boot. This makes me wonder if Criterion still hold the rights to Sisters?

Just watched Blow Out this week too, fine presentation... Also, Walkabout arrived today, plus I bought the 2 disc DVD for Naked Lunch. Up to 40 Criterion blu-rays now, and about 60 DVDs.

That is one seriously convoluted appeal for clarity

I did enjoy PANIC ROOM, only own the Superbit DVD and been meaning to buy the 3-Disc Special Edition.

Alright thanks ccfixx! Guess I'll attempt a search for the elusive slipcover.
I believe the only version available on Blu-ray is the director's cut, so that should make things easier .

Anyway, watched The Night of the Hunter the other day, and while I liked it, I didn't think it was the masterpiece some people made it out to be. Granted, that's only after the first viewing, and most of the time movies need to grow on me. I am really interested in the special features, though it's going to take some time to get to watch all of them.

I would also put The King Of Marvin Gardens in that iconic category. That film seems more and more impressive every time I see it. Give it a few viewings and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do!

The King of Marvin Gardens is great, as is Five Easy Peices and Last Picture Show. Peices and Marvin Gardens have such an awesome look to them. The color palette is fantastic.

Am I the only one who enjoyed Drive, He Said (even though it it didn't make perfect sense)?

The King of Marvin Gardens is my favorite film from the BBS set. I had never seen it before and remember watching it something like 4 or 5 times the first week. Something about Atlantic City before gambling was leagalized and the way Rafelson captured the soul of place.
