Once you get Prime you'll never want to go back. It's $79 annually but it pays for itself in the long run especially if you order a lot most especially the big items. And let's say if one of the items arrives in poor condition/damage they will send you a replacement right away if the item is in stock and upgrade the shipping to one day free of charge.

Ditto. Just finished the Three Colors trilogy. Moving onto Decalogue.

Absolutely love your avatar, by the way. My favorite Criterion.

Well, were I returning it, it would be because it was shipped in a bubble bag and got smooshed or crunched in transit. Cardboard...

They're going to announce Sidney Lumet's The Hill later today.

Disclaimer: The above was just a prediction. I have no inside information. Or any other kind of information for that matter.

Disclaimer II: It's not even a prediction, really. I don't think there's any real chance of it happening anytime soon let alone today. It's more wishful thinking. But I just finished watching it and it was pretty good so let MGM release 12 Angy Men - which I'm sure they'd do a fine job with - and let Criterion go after something which will otherwise likely never see a BD release. Or plaster the whacky C on both, that would be fine too.

Disclaimer III: Of course, if it does actually happen Disclaimer II is immediately void and it was a prediction and I'm brilliant and insightful and whatnot.

It's from Marketplace seller TDIHoldings Inc., that apparently is fulfilled by Amazon. The Price is way more than Amazon's price, at 49.90. Amazon sells it for 30.99 regularly now. It was on sale for 21.49 as part of the Amazon Criterion sale last weekend. I wouldn't pay 50 dollars for it. 30 yes, 50 no.

Thanks. For a moment there I thought that was the actual announcement. After reading the third disclaimer I realized it was a prediction.

You can search back through the entire thread for the exact days when everyone started going crazy, but the sales have usually lasted about 2-1/2 weeks during those respected months. It might be easier to find the previous sales searching through the "Movie And TV Deals" thread.

So this will be, once again, my most unproductive day of the month...

...not that I'm complaining.

haha! same here.

I just hope the announcement is within a couple hours and isn't towards the end of the day.

Hello Criterion-announcement-day-junkies..... (fellow, that is)

In regards to Amazon shipping/prime/receiving on release date... I have had pre-orders show up AFTER the release date, when ordering with prime (Taxi-Driver being one of them.... and I pre-ordered it about 3 months prior to release)

Amazon told me that not all releases say "Receive this item by XX.xx.XX" (being release date) I think that's B.S. they were telling me, but nonetheless, I have received pre-orders after the release date that I've ordered using 2-day prime shipping. It doesn't happen often, and I would call it "extremely rare" given the frequency of my orders with Amazon.

These last couple of months have all been direct from Criterion though.... I just wish they had more sales.

True, It would be nice if it were a bit earlier than last month. That day was exhausting. and I didn't do any work at my desk either! haha

I would guess since it is nearing lunch time on the east coast it will be in the afternoon. Just hoping early afternoon.

I would say that the earlier announcements will ring true...
  • Jean Vigo set
  • Cul-de-sac (Roman Polanski)
  • Orpheus (Jean Cocteau)

Outside of those three, there's probably a possibility for a South Korean release.

What about Carlos (Oliver Assayas) and Wild Strawberries (Ingmar Bergman)? They appeared back in January in that teasing newsletter. I really REALLY hope they announce Carlos soon enough but also wish they include the complete edition and not just the theatrical-cut but knowing Criterion they will probably go through the correct route .

Criterion has indicated the Carlos release will include both the complete and theatrical versions. That's one release I've been waiting on since Dec to be announced.

My Amazon order update shows my copies of Le cercle rouge and Kes will be delivered today...so there's always that to hold me over until later when the announcements are finally made.
