Default The Unborn got me

Me and my girlfriend watched The Last House on the Left, Friday the 13th Killer Cut, and The Unborn this weekend. First off, all looked great on Blu!!! Obviously each movie protrayed the different types of horror. I don't normally get freaked out with horror type movies and the only one that scared me was Event Horizon when it first came out. But we were both a little freaked out with The Unborn, this is the first horror movie that gave me the chills. What do you guys think?

I haven't seen it yet. It's in my Netflix queue, but keeps getting bumped down. It has such a dismal overall rating that my interest is wained...but I'll give it a go.

I don't like Horror movies, but the following are great.

Ginger Snaps 1 (I like the 2nd and 3rd as well)

and Frailty.

Frailty is an EXCELLENT film! Highly recommended!

Frailty is highly underrated. Bill Paxton is great as actor/director. Also it's the only Matt McConaughey movie I can watch and not want to kill myself. Wait, forgot about U-571. Lionsgate has some great horror in there vaults that they need to put out on blu.

Again, Martyrs is NOT torture porn. And I'm in the opinion that the film is very much a horror film. The horror genrre casts a wide net. Portraying monsters both real and fantasy. Situations scary and horrific. As for "torture porn" itself I hate media labeling. Especially the label of torture porn. It has a bad connotation. I think the Hostel films are great horror films. I thought the first one was scary the first time I saw it. I don't see them as having nothing but torture. These films have a little more too it. Having underlying subtexts. The media simply looks at these films superficially. Then dub it some stupid title to help describe the film. However, I do blame the Saw franchise having helped ushering that in with all the sequels. I stop caring after the second one. Oh, about Anamorph. I haven't seen it. But from what I read about it sounds like something along the lines of Seven.

Been mentioned a million times before, and you will probably get hundreds of titles... Different taste, you know.

I viewed The Unborn as a rental from the iTunes store. I'm glad I didn't blind buy that one. It had to be one of the goofiest, least subtle horror films I've seen in a while. There wasn't a single redeeming moment in it.

I enjoyed F13 (2009) for what it intended to be. It was a fun slasher and had a great opening sequence. Last House 2009 was a vast improvement over the original film. A better cast and overall more even film.

Martyrs and Orphan were the most impressive horror films I've seen this year. Grace was pretty good too. H2 and Midnight Movie were the biggest disappointments.

From that list, go for The Shining (one of the best Hollywood horror movies of all time), Dawn of the Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Martyrs.

3 classics and one new, French masterpiece!!

Whoops! Forgot to add Hellraiser there. And just to be clear I meant the original Dawn. As far as PQ goes 30 Days of Night impressed me the most. The Host is really good also. I haven't seen the Shining blu but yes see that if you haven't already. I can't comment on audio too much since my sound system isn't exactly high-end. But they all do sound good on what I have.

No Halloween on your list?
I also enjoyed the Host. Great PQ.

Also, I would suggest The Thing.

I'm back you weirdos lol!

So I saw these movies the last couple of weeks:

The Entity: Didnt like it, more torture porn crud. Could have been very scary though! 3/10

Ju-On: The Curse 2 (Not Ju-On the grudge 2 Japanese): I only managed to see the first 35 mins but they creeped the hell outta me, just like the first 1. 8.8/10

The Grudge 3: Not bad 7.3/10

Below: Great bunch of actors, but a Piece of s, 3/10

Whispering Corridors (Japanese Horror): 2/10, Sucked.

The Howling III: 3/10

I was currently watching The Haunting (1963), looked good so far, fell asleep last night though, was too tired.

I Will watch that one, Horror of Dracula (1958), Let the right ones in, The Exorsicm of Emily Rose, The Howling 4 and Drag me to Hell next.

It just keeps that level of greatness. If you don't like the first few minutes you'll probably hate the rest as well.

As long as you see this as "just a couple of kids..." you're missing the point.
