Quantic Dream Shows Heavy Rain Teaser Image
Want a look at the playable characters in Heavy Rain? Or more accurately, the shapes of their heads.

To date, Quantic Dream has made a point of not focusing on Heavy Rain's story in their press demos. They've teased us with talk of an "Origami Killer," photos of a crime scene, and rumors of something related to a father's love for his child, but they've been careful to avoid saying anything concrete.

Starting this week, they're loosening their grip. We'll have more to share on Friday, but for today, the developers have provided 1UP with the teaser image above showing each of the four playable characters in the game. Poke around online and you may be able to find some clues as to who these silhouettes represent. The upper left image, for instance, looks like Madison, the star of the not-from-the-real-game "Taxidermist" level shown at E3 and Games Convention last year.

Wait so, the in game footage shown so far isn't part of the game itself? Alot of effort put into something they aren't going to put in the game hehe, looked really nice.

The second picture (top right), could be the "taxidermist" character, right?

yep.. was thinking the same.. the first picture is definately the female character we saw in the footage that was released..

The previous game footage shown is in the game. It is a side story/quest that is not related to the main story.

I think the game will be pointless.

Look, the graphics look photo-realistic, but the game can't just be about fast-response buttons and cinematics. I'm hoping Heavy Rain will have somewhat of a Silent Hill feel, since it's a thriller game.

If the game sucks, behold the "Haze" of 2009.

You've read one of those knee-jerk "oh noes QTE's!" reactions to the game.

Gameplay isn't primarily cutscenes or a long sequence of QTE's like you see in Shenmue, Tomb Raider etc.

You explore the environment, make choices, converse with characters. The hands-on articles and gameplay vids later this week should give an even clearer picture.

Nah, I saw the gameplay video. It was kinda boring no offense.

I'll check at a different video, thanks for the info though.

If it's a PS3 exclusive, fanboys will try to box it in the "another Haze" category. It helps them emotionally.

In my opinion, Killzone 2 doesn't suck. A lot of people praised the game for its visuals and multiplayer, but criticized it for its clunky controls.

I'm just saying that if Heavy Rain does suck, it's gonna be the Haze of 2009. Well, either that or we're just looking at that new Transformers game.
