Hi all, I’m Chris Heidorn, Software Engineer at Sucker Punch Productions. With inFAMOUS shipping in less than a month, you guys are probably starting to wonder about what types of trophies and stunts (yes, there will be stunts) will be in the game. Well, I’m here today to give you a brief inFAMOUS trophy and stunt lowdown.

So, we know you all love stunts and so do we at Sucker Punch. The testing team here had the super fun job of coming up with some cool ways Cole could take down and kill enemies by doing a combination or sequence of events. To do this, the team relied upon their experiences playing the game everyday and noting where there were enemy setups and likely systemic behavior in the story missions and mini-missions that allowed them to pull off these cool stunts.

They created a list of 40 or more such combos, as we called them. We also enlisted the Sony test team for their list. Between the two teams we had a candidate list that totaled more than 80 stunts. To choose the best stunts for inFAMOUS, I created what I called an experience monitor. The experience monitor basically “listened” for raw attack events, such as an electromagnetic blast attack, and would record these events in a ring buffer. As enemies got damaged, the details of their damage would be associated with the raw attack event. In the end, we ended up with over 20 pretty cool stunts that we can’t wait for you guys to experience.

One of my favorite stunts is the environment kill. This involves making clever use of the environment to take down or kill enemies. If there’s a propane tank or a vehicle near some enemies, shoot at them until they blow up. If the blast takes down the enemy, you score this stunt. What’s fun about this is luring the enemies near the exploding device and using it to your advantage. What fun! You would think the enemies would catch on to this, but they just keep coming back for more! One of the harder stunts to pull off is the melee finisher. With this one, you must take down or kill at least 3 enemies in a row with Cole’s melee attack. You must do this quickly, since you only have ½ second between each kill in order for it to count.

So, for trophies, we have a number of different categories which are:
  • Game, story and mini-mission completion
  • Collect all dead drops and shards
  • Traversal
  • Stunts
  • Power-Based
  • Karmic decisions
The “Get Off My Cloud” trophy is probably one of the easiest trophies to unlock. The idea here is to use one of Cole’s powers to knock an enemy off a high location, such as a rooftop, and deal him damage that kills him when he hits the ground. Perform 100 of these and you unlock the trophy. Another fun trophy is the “Red Baron.” Blast enemies into the air and kill or take them down while they’re in-air. Do 100 of these and you’ve unlocked this trophy.

Anyway, we’ll leave the rest for you to uncover on your journey with Cole through Empire City. Enjoy and stay tuned for more inFAMOUS news!

Developers Interview HD

Have to say I had some doubts during the last year but the finished game looks like a blast. Glad they're showing more platforming.

Check out the new Sucker Punch website! http://www.suckerpunch.com/

Welcome To The New SuckerPunch.com

To help mark the upcoming release of inFAMOUS, we've completely redesigned and revamped our site. It's now completely modular, which means that it'll be easier than ever for us to update the site and keep you up-to-date about all the cool happenings here at Sucker Punch.

As a part of the redesign, our site now has information on how to follow us via Twitter and also sports an entirely new forum.

With the release of inFAMOUS growing nearer, you can also expect lots of new content that focuses on everyone's favorite electric super-hero, Cole MacGrath.

None of this means that we've forgotten about Sly Cooper and friends, though. All of the Sly-related content will be making the transition and will be as easy to find as ever.

inFAMOUS U.S. Launch Set For May 26th, Europe May 29th

With the worldwide release of inFAMOUS just around the corner, things have really started to ramp up at both Sucker Punch and Sony. When inFAMOUS launches in the United States on May 26th and Europe May 29th, the U. S. gets its own unique box, and folks in Europe can purchase a regular edition or a special edition that's loaded with extra goodies.

Between now and May 10th, we'll be launching the official inFAMOUS website, www.infamousthegame.com, and the demo will be available on PSN starting May 21st.

If you can't wait to try the game, you can pre-order it to get exclusive, early access to the demo, or an exclusive Reaper costume for your HOME avatar, or an exclusive power, Gigawatt Blades. This is extremely powerful melee weapon.

Exclusive code?

I thought that they announced that all the games would have the code with them.

Pre-ordered one from Gamestop and one from Amazon. I put Amazon under Super Saver Shipping but unless they have release date delivery for $4.99 like last time later on... I will cancel my order with Gamestop. If I pre-order from Amazon... I should get the beta though since they should be include the beta code in the first batch of shipments.

Mixed in some of this to the first post:
http://community.eu.playstation.com/...cending&page=1

http://www.infamousthegame.com/ (hasn't fully launched yet)

CHARACTERS

COLE

"I am a mystery to myself… What made me who I am?"
Cole's transformation from urban slacker to super-human may bring him power, but it also forces him to confront difficult moral questions. As he watches his hometown unravel in the aftermath of the explosion, he finds himself torn between competing factions, some of which do not have Empire City's best interests in mind. Will he prove to be the city's deliverance – or its downfall?

ZEKE

Cole's best friend, Zeke has a taste for conspiracy theories and a deep distrust of the government. As chaos envelopes Empire City, Zeke comes to believe that it's every man for himself, and that the only way out of this mess is for everyone to get super-powers.

TRISH

Cole's girlfriend is smart, beautiful and loving – but even her fierce loyalty cannot survive the tragedies of Empire City. After losing her sister in the blast that gives Cole his powers, she's heartbroken. Blaming Cole for the death of her sister, Trish spends her time doing what she can to help the people still trapped within Empire City.

MOYA

An FBI agent, Moya tasks Cole with finding a device called the Ray Sphere and locating her missing husband, a fellow FBI agent named John. If Cole helps Moya, she will clear his name and get him out of the city.

DUST MEN

Prior to the blast, the Warren was home to Empire City's homeless population. After the blast, those homeless people were organized into a group called the Dust Men. Because of their lack of social status before the blast, the Dust Men are hellbent on getting "theirs" by any means necessary, even if that means the wholesale slaughter of innocent civilians.

DALLAS

Dallas, known to the scared citizens of Empire City as the Voice of Survival, began a pirate television broadcast after the quarantine was imposed. Alternating between broadcasting helpful information and propaganda aimed at undermining Cole, Dallas is a constant presence in the city.

POWERS

Cole is a living human dynamo, drawing electrical energy from the city's grid and channeling it outwards in diverse ways. He recharges his powers by directly tapping into the power grid via street lights, downed cables, car batteries, etc. But Cole is not omnipotent.

Empire City's infrastructure is crumbling and blackouts are common. If Cole strays into an area where power has been lost, his abilities dry up – and his vulnerability skyrockets.

Cole's powers include:
  • Lightning Bolt – Let fly with high voltage bolts, wounding or killing enemies, destroying objects or powering up machines.
  • Shockwave – Create a wave of high-impact energy that throws cars into the air, or slams enemies off of rooftops.
  • Bio Leech – Overpower an enemy, then use this attack to suck the electrical energy from the neurons in their brain.
  • Pulse Heal – Heal the wounded with a short burst of electrical energy applied direct to an injured person's chest from Cole's hands.
  • Contact Powers – A trio of powers that let Cole empower civilians to help him in battle.
  • Shock Grenade – An explosive ball of electrical energy that explodes with impressive force, damaging everything caught in its blast.
  • Lightning Storm – Take advantage of charged particles in the air and summon a colossal lightning strike.
  • Precision – An advanced ability that lets Cole briefly slow down time, zoom in on an enemy, and blast them with a super-charged lightning burst.
  • Arc Restraint – A non-violent way of dealing with villains, this ability uses electricity to bind an enemy's hands and feet together and pin them to the ground.
  • Thunder Drop – Leap from the top of a high building and hit the ground extra hard, creating an electric shockwave that sends people and objects flying.

KARMA

One of the most important aspects of inFamous is its Karma System. Depending on Cole's actions, he consciously shifts into either a Good or Evil Karmic State, and this is more than a superficial change. Nearly every aspect of the game, from the way pedestrians react to Cole, to the powers he can use and upgrade, to Cole's appearance, and even the story, is impacted by Cole's Karma.

By focusing on either Good or Evil Karma, Cole's body actually changes in not only appearance, but also in how it manifests and manipulates electricity. If Cole has Good Karma, his powers are more electron-based; however, if he's Evil, his powers are more positron-based. This results in wildly different upgrades for his powers.

No longer says exclusive so other shops should offer beta codes too.

Apparently the early-access preorder inFAMOUS demo releases next Thursday!
