I am sorry to inform everyone that it looks like the Goonies movie-only edition was a false rumor. Went into my Walmart at 3am (after my late-shift job), and it was not among their new releases, there was no shelf tag or spot for it (the rest of today's releases all had tags/spots), and when I asked an employee he had no idea what I was talking about.

I suppose there's a miniscule chance my particular WM just wasn't carrying it while some others are, but it's far more likely there simply IS NO movie-only edition.

Got a Best Buy gift card burning a hole in my pocket, and it has Goonies 25th Anniversary Edition written all over it. Can't wait to go pick this up after work.

I have personally come aware that WM lacks the ability to know too much about any subject at all, especially Blu-Ray movies, players and anything else related to blu ray. I too have experienced a "Daze" from WM employees when asked about a particular blu ray movie that has just been released. They would look at me as if I was from another planet. Me being from another planet shouldn't make any difference, but don't feel being left out because WM really does not know too much about anything. You are better off going into WM and figuring things out for yourself.

The local WM stores here in SoCal mix the blus with the DVDs... so frustrating to fiddle thru the movies to find the blu ray that I want. What a hassle. Best Buy isn't that much better either here, but they are a little bit better.

I rec'd my Goonies set from amazon.com today and it was in Mint condition which is nice. The outer case is a lot more shiny that I figured it would be and it does carry some weight. Many won't like the DVD tallness and the overall box thickness.

I haven't opened it yet, but I will post some pics of it once I get home today, unless someone beats me.

I will say I know the pricing wasn't worth the set since the disc extras are nothing new... and several sites have confirmed the discs contents and transfer are the same as the UK edition.

WB's really missed out on selling more copies of this just because of this set. There should have been a standard version released or maybe just a digibook release would have been adequate. I know I won't ever touch the game but I may look thru the magazine copies etc.

I actually still have the ORIGINAL magazine from 1985 that they reproduced (at a smaller size) for this set. I wonder if it's worth anything?

Saw the box at BB today when getting TS3. Walmart and Target didnt get it in today. I just went ahead and ordered it from Amazon today. The box is nice and sturdy from the feel of what i saw at BB but it is bigger than the standard blu-ray box. I will probably just take the movie out of the box and put that on the shelf and put the other stuff away or on another shelf for display.

Ok, I give up waiting. I'm just gonna go ahead and order the UK import. Who knows how long they'll wait to release the movie by itself.

..and I just read that review by Bill Hunt at The Digital Bits. The movie itself gets a B- ?????? and it "falls short of the intended mark"???? What the hell movie did he watch??

The set does look better in person... still it is fluff for sure... at least the Blu-ray comes in a normal style case inside the package... It will def be sold on its own soon... it even has a bar code etc

Non-digibook fans are going to grill me for saying this, but I'm still irked that WBHV decided to release this in that bulky set with worthless crap instead of releasing it in classic digibook form.
