Edgar Wright Teases Beginning of Pre-Production on ANT-MAN with Set Image
Quote:
Though next month will see the release of only the second Phase Two film from Marvel, Thor: The Dark World, the studio is getting ready to begin production on its first Phase Three film next year, the long-awaited Ant-Man. Filmmaker Edgar Wright recently took a very much deserved (and admittedly short) month-long break after the release and promotion of this summer’s excellent The World’s End, and the director has now returned to L.A. to begin pre-production on Ant-Man. To mark the occasion, Wright recently tweeted an Ant-Man set image.

Given that filming hasn’t begun and the lead character hasn’t even been cast yet, it’s safe to assume that this picture is from the Ant-Man test reel that Wright shot a couple of years ago, but it’s still a fun tease of what’s to come.

Via Edgar Wright’s Twitter.

From the above post it looks like there doing screen tests as now there in proper pre-production they can use CGI of now and get the right look needed for it to be awesome.

Rumor Patrol
Marvel Likes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Paul Rudd for ‘Ant-Man’
Quote:
Sequels to “Thor” and “The Avengers” may be on the horizon at Marvel, but the company’s antennas are increasingly tuned in to Edgar Wright’s “Ant-Man.”

Sources tell Variety the two actors who have emerged as front-runners to land the title role in the superhero feature are Joseph Gordon Levitt and Paul Rudd. Insiders warn there’s still a remote possibility another actor could emerge but as of now, Gordon-Levitt and Rudd are the main contenders the role.

Marvel recently moved up the release date of the comic-book feature to July 31, 2015 and Wright, following his vacation, tweeted a pre-production photo of the Ant-Man character, which has since reignited the anticipation that an actor would be attached shortly.

The two choices are certainly interesting. Wright, director of “Shaun of the Dead” and most recently “The World’s End,” appears to want more of a normal looking actor for the role with some sort of wise-cracking personality rather than a beefed up action hero like Chris Hemsworth or Chris Evans.

Sources indicate the two are expected to meet with Marvel execs and Wright one more time before a decision is made and that there’s also a possibility of one more actor being added into the mix.

In the comics, the character’s original alter-ego was Henry Pym, a brilliant scientist who invented a substance that allowed him to change his size.

Wright co-wrote the script with “Attack the Block” director Joe Cornish.

I love both actors, and I think both would be very good in the role. Excited to see what comes of this.

Those are two very different choices. I think you would get two very different movies depending on who is chosen. If they ever merge him into the Avenger-verse, I definitely think JGL is more fitting.

Both great choices. I think I'd rather see Rudd though.

I really want to see Rudd get the part. I think he'd make an excellent Pym.

I see Rudd in the role more than Levitt, plus I think Rudd would be able to hold his own more in The Avengers

I like JGL but Rudd would be the better choice for me.

But wow, Warner better get going on what they plan on doing for their movies because they will be losing a good actor for their comic franchises.

Rudd definitely fits more with Wright's style of film making. However, I would rather see Gordon-Levitt get the role as I think that he is more versatile as an actor and would offer more options for the final edit.

I think Rudd would have much more chemistry with the Avengers cast than JGL.

Echoing most of the sentiments here, I love both of these guys, but it's Rudd's turn. His chemistry with RDJ would be bananas.

Out of the two, Rudd for sure. He can be a smart ass and get mouthy like Pym can so he should do fine. I still think Patrick Wilson would be excellent for the role and nail it.

I know I'm a week late, but that "set image" Wright tweeted is not a pre-production image from the film. It's just an image from when he filmed his pitch reel. His tweet was implying "timeto get back to that project"
