I was in Asda at the weekend, also availed of the Superman Bluray collection. Very good price even when converted to euros for me. I watched the expanded version of Superman yesterday, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up when the Superman theme started up. Just have to try and get rid of the dvd set now.
Have you watched 3 or 4 yet though?
People bang on about Returns being the stinker, nostalgia must be blocking 3 & 4

I signed in and found that The Superman Motion Picture Anthology Blu-ray set is now only £27.97. I was not going to order it this month but couldn't resist myself from ordering it due to this ridiculous extremely low price which I thought I would never see and also I have the feeling that price will go up soon. I know that the discs are not clearly labeled but just to get the labeled disc I cant pay double the amount.

I only need to know that does the UK set has the same video MPEG-4 AVC codec which the US set has? and everything like PQ, AQ, Extras are the same as US box set?

It's the same disc content. Only difference is the disc art changes you mentioned and it's a standard slipbox over the Digipak instead of the more elaborate US design.

Thanks for the reply. I was just conscious about the PQ, AQ and Extras which I am glad are the same as US. Like I said that this set is very cheap and just to get the stylish box art I dont like paying double the amount. Thanks once again for the reply. I am glad I purchased it.

I just got the UK version for just under £30 and put it in the rather snazzy steel box that the DVD collection from a few years back came in.

I gave the DVD versions to a mate of mine - problem solved!

I was thinking about doing the same but I'm waiting for this set to come down a bit more in price. It's a shame that the DVD set didn't have a slipcase (like the Blade Runner DVD set) so you could display it outside the tin.

I doubt that the price will go down further! What I think is that the price will go up in few days and remain the same for few months atleast. So its a nice time to buy this set right now.

I doubt it will go up to be honest, its been £30 since the day of release instore at ASDA so £28 is just the start of a steady decline I think.

Still hasn't reached the £23.99 I paid from Sainsburys.

Sometimes pre-ordering is the best thing to do

I am puzzeled how this set is unavailable from Amazon.co.uk so soon after this was released on Blu. Any idea why that is?

I'd imagine it's just out of stock or they're waiting for the next batch. ASDA on-line don't have it either.

Ok, I got a bit nervous first when I saw it and still later on. I haven't yet picked up the set but intend to do it soon.

I hope that's all it is, now that I've finally gotten round to buying it, but it's been like that on Am.UK for at least two weeks now.

I can't see them changing much unless they go to an Amaray style packaging like Fox did with Alien. They've had separate releases apart from III and IV which wouldn't exactly fly off the shelves by themselves.

Update:

I wrote to Amazon UK to enquire about this set, and got a reply saying:

Quote:
I've searched our catalogue, but the item "The Complete Superman Collection [Blu-ray][Region Free]" you asked about is not currently listed.
This, in spite of the fact that I included a link to the page on the Amazon site where the item is displayed.

So I wrote back and said, how could it not be listed when you've got a page for it? and got this most recent reply:

Quote:
The item you have mentioned "The Complete Superman Collection [Blu-ray][Region Free]" is currently out of stock and I can’t guarantee if or when it will be sold again by us.

Occasionally, our supply of popular items is limited and some products sell out quickly. I am very sorry that you were not able to place your order before our supply ran out.

Perhaps you could check our website from time to time to see if this item has come back in stock or if it is available from a third-party seller through Amazon.co.uk Marketplace.
A template reply, I would imagine. I'm not sure whether it means definitively it's never coming back, or whether I would have got the same reply anyway if it was simply out of stock and awaiting the next shipment.

Anyway, good on Amazon UK (or their service centre in New Delhi, anyway) for being so quick in their replies.
