Which is a terrible attitude in just about every artistic endeavor known to man. Art is a method of communication, a definition and understanding going all the way back to Aristotle, who wrote there is no art without an audience to view it. If an artist is only talking to himself, then he isn't communicating to anyone, and therefore is not an artist. I don't know what you call people who create works of art purely for themselves - narcissists, maybe. Or mentally troubled. You don't call them artists.

George Lucas actually supports Fan Edits. His company will of course get involved when people attempt to make money off them. He actually liked the Phantom Editor version of Episode I, and said something along the lines of this being the future of movies, where people can create their own versions/ films from existing films. He's very much against the studio system when it comes to films, and believes the future is in downloading. Interesting stuff.

Of course not. But the best versions of the original trilogy already existed in 1983. He didn't need to alter them (or any of the other movies he directed, for that matter) any further.

There will always be complaining, just a fact of life. Its not just limited to those who want the UOT either. Others will complain the extras are weak or 'such and such' of an extra was missing. Or PT fans will whine that the individual PT set isn't selling as well at the OT set. Blah blah blah. Whatever. I just look forward to seeing the movies in Blu Ray at home. Just gots my fingers crossed that the transfer is SWEET!

Kurtz had alot to do with reinging in Lucas. Not to get to far off track but IMHO Jedi was not in the class with the first two. Kershner directed the best film of the whole series when Lucas was nowhere to be found. In fact Lucas was not around much at all for Empire. So I would say he should get tons of credit. So I hope they will not be slighted in the potential extras.

Yeah i have tons of stuff too and he was hardly on set in England until he freaked over the budget. But like I said thats a different argument for another thread. I just hope he gives them the credit they are due on ANH and Empire.

If I hear 1 more person say GL doesn't care about the fans I am going to go mad. GL does care about the fans so stop saying he does not.
