I hope it is. I just wanted this 4K version on double disc, even if it was just the 229 minute cut with the "found" footage being mere extras.

Of course added scenes are great too, especially if they are seemlessly branched. But when they are of drastically inferior quality, I prefer seemless branching as an option - not necessarily as the only way to watch it.

I'm hugely worried though that it seems like the entire film is again crammed on to disc 1 (same disc?), and then again separately crammed onto disc 2 (with even MORE extended scenes). Why they hell would they do that?

So they can just use the current discs ported across. I wouldn't be amazed if they're both the same discs that are currently available, they sure seem so. The cynic in me thinks they're holding fire on the 4k version for an eventual actual 4k release next year or year after.

If the US extended version is the same as the Italian one (which is a Warners release, in case anyone didn't know) then the internet will have a shit fit, owing to the shonky PQ.

I'm still baffled that the same excerpt from the 'Once Upon a Time' doco is being dumped on both discs. I mean, if they knew they were going to use the the exact same disc as before for disc 2, why even bother putting the same featurette on disc 1 again?

Oh wait - so they can, if they need to, sell disc 1 as a separate thing down the line.

This would not surprise me at all. After all, this is THE top studio of transfer recycling for endless multiple releases.

It's Warner, they're pretty much region free 99.999% of the time.

I would be ok with that (actual 4K release). Hell it would be great news if we get some type of confirmation of an actual 4K format and release schedule of some key catalog titles in 4K.

If it's the same discs (or marginal upgrade). I'll just have to keep playing the waiting game. There's a long line of films on blu-ray in a similar state of limbo for me.

I might break down and get it if I see it as a bargain or something, but I'm not going to go out of my way to get something that's already obsolete - haphazardly squeezed into a single disc in an inferior manner.

I am amused by the pull quote on the back cover. I don't know if my friend Simon Abrams will be as pleased...

Nope, they are from an extremely ruined workprint kept in dreadful conditions, and there is only that source there unfortunately.

I pre-ordered the collectors edition at Amazon US for 24.29 US dollars :

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Once-...Blu-ray/95062/

Does anyone know if this is the same edition that is priced at 15 Canadian dollars on Amazon Ca ?

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Once-...lu-ray/106766/

Thanks.

Nice savings there for me if it is.

Edit. Going by specs on blu ray.com, it's the same edition.

Are Warner's releases in Canada identical to their US counterparts, or are there usually changes in content or packaging (for example, bilingual packaging)?

No idea. I order from Amazon US mainly, but sometimes, I use Amazon Ca when they have a large difference in price for the "same" edition. The only "bilingual packaging" title that I've ordered was the Alien Anthology. That had a French transparent sticker on it, which was made to be peeled off. As for other titles or Warner titles, I don't know.

Thanks.

For the price, I'll probably order it anyway.

Well that didn't last long. It's back up to 30 Canadian dollars. I'm happy I got home in time to see this.

The only difference is that the packaging will have some French writing on it. The French version of the title will usually be in smaller writing underneath the English title, the titles will be side by side on the spine, and the story summary on the back will be in English and French (so the writing will be extremely tiny to accommodate them both!). Other than that, content on the actual disc is identical.
