I know there are mixed feelings right now with the new dub. Based off the footage that I have seen so far I welcome the change. Yes, it will take some getting use to but I find it actually refreshing that they decided to go with a new voice cast. Also, I think it is interesting that Viz Media decided to go with the characters real names instead of the American ones that were given to them. I never knew quite how to pronounce their Japanese names so I'm actually glad that they did this. Finally, the animation looks beautiful. Honestly, this is the best the show has ever looked in my opinion and I can't wait to add this to my collection.

That's not really remarkable at all. It's just the proper way dubs are done.

The original DiC dub (and the Cloverway dub that followed it) was executed as an adaptation of the original, specifically to an audience which might not be receptive to the native Japanese cultural content, so much of it was changed. The new Viz dub--like virtually all dubs--acts as a translation of the original, preserving those cultural elements, and like the subtitle track, communicates it to the audience as accurately as possible (although by its nature dubbing is inherently less accurate than subtitling).

The approach and conventions of the DiC and Cloverway dubs are simply no longer relevant, so they've been abandoned.

I know that is what i'm saying. I am glad that they went back fixed the dub and gave them their respectful names as they were in the manga and japanese dub.

It won't be too much longer-but what I'm really waiting for is the dubbed version of Sailor Stars, I've probally watched my subbed hkdvd set of it at least 4 times.

You made it sound like it was something to be surprised of, when it's really just what's expected.

I've been rewatching the series on Hulu and have been reading a lot of the criticism over the upconverted video. It prompted me to buy episode 23 on iTunes to see what all of the fuss is about. The screenshots look bad, but watching the HD download didn't make me cringe and it looked a lot better than it does on Hulu. It's still the best this show has ever looked. The bottom line is Toei hasn't produced an HD master for the series, so Viz is doing their best to alter the 2009 version to be faithful to the original series.

I bought the ADV/Pioneer releases, where picture quality was abysmal and audio even worse. I've watched the 2009 version online where colors are overly bright and amplified. Viz has made the best of a bad situation by using that source to correct the colors and the results are pretty darn pleasing to my eyes.

I placed my preorder on rightstuf.com to get the exclusive coin. Has anybody ordered from them before? I'm curious if they ship before the release date so you have it on day one.

I've ordered with RightStuf before, but it wasn't a pre-order. The Cardcaptor Sakura set is my first pre-order with them.

Right Stuf almost always ships before release date: they seem to ship as soon as they get the product in stock, sometimes weeks in advance.

Perhaps I was a bit surprised at first because in the DiC/Cloverway Dub they didn't use their respectful names, they named used Serena, Amy, Lita, Mina and Rei and so I almost half expected those names to return in the Viz Dub just because that I was use to them being called even though I know that's not really their names. Anyways, as I said earlier I am happy that their using their actual names as they should have been called from the start and not their American ones.

I've seen a few videos of where people had said this too and that's really cool. Even Ebay have had moments of this as well...I plan to pre-order this in early November so as to get it on the day that it comes out...will the pre-order price drop a bit before release day or will it stay the same...I'm just asking because I've never bought from RightStuf before.

Unless there is a VIZ sale from now until then the price point it's at now will stick and thats even if it would be included in any possible VIZ sale.

As of this post, the Sailor Moon Limited Edition Bluray/DVD set only has 30 copies available to preorder left at Rightstuf! It remains to be seen if more will be added after these are gone!

i'm thinking that counter is only for the preorder coin, not the set itself

There are zero quantity now, they are all sold out...

Thank you for the link, I have been waiting for Amazon to add this to their site finally. Now that the pre-order is available I will just purchase it on there when the time comes in early November.
