Oh and btw I found some rare pics from the original cut of The Exorcist III

german_promo_3.jpg

The infamous deleted scene showing that the elderly priest in the film had been decapitated.

german_promo_16.jpg

This is the Gemini Killers' original cell room before the scenes were reshot when Jason Miller was added into the film.

I remember the shot of the priest with the severed head from a magazine at the time and being disappointed that it wasn't in the movie. That still was an incredibly creepy scene even without the money shot.

A restored version of The Exorcist III comes second only on my lost movie wish list after The Magnificent Ambersons.

Love all of the photos that are being shared. Great scenes/Behind the scenes stuff! And BTW, the price for the set has gone up to $32 now.

The lost elements for a fully restored director's cut of 'Night Breed' we're unearthed. I'm just saying, somewhere out there, it has to exist! I hold out foolish hope because 'Exorcist III' is one of my favorite horror films of all time (no joke, I actually prefer it to part 1) and I would love more than anything to see a fully restored special edition that gives this film the kudos it so richly deserves.

That's true about stuff like this existing somewhere waiting to be unearthed.

For example the horror movie Event Horizon's long lost original cut was recently found on a video tape in a salt mine in Transylvania of all places.

Honestly I'm not making this up haha!

It is. Dominion is being treated as an extra and as such is packaged together with the Beginning. It won't have it's own disk in the set nor in stand alone form.

Did I miss a press release where Warner Brothers revealed the disc breakdown for each of the 6 discs?

I was thinking the same thing ! The press release states a six disc set so every movie will be on its own disc.

To be clear:

• The press release just says 6 Discs
• The "one for each movie" theory came from a WBShop employee

So, right now there are two options, 1) Dominion and The Beginning will share a disc and the 3rd Exorcist disc will be included, or 2) Dominion will get its own disc as special promotion exclusively for the set. Those are really the only two possibilities, right?

Did anyone here enjoy Dominion/The Beginning? I thought it would be a fascinating opportunity to compare 2 directors' visions of the same movie with the same actors when I heard about the issues with the making of this film/these films but never heard anything good about them so I never watched them.

I enjoy Dominion though for me nowhere near as good as the original Exorcist or Exorcist III. The premise of Dominion just isn't scary, yet there is some good drama and acting. Harlin's version on the other hand just tries to go for a shock fest and special effects extravaganza, also missing the point altogether. What's interesting is that both movies use some of the same actors (not all) and even reshoot sequences which really lets you compare how both directors approached the material. It really is fascinating in that regard, especially in the context of what happened on previous Exorcist sequels.

There is a 2 disc dvd version from Dutch Filmworks which aside from the audio commentary and deleted scenes features more interviews, footage from the premiere in Brussels. I do hope this complete anthology will offer some extras for all movies and not just the first one.

The Ninth Configuration is coming to Blu this year, according to Blatty himself:

"I've finished a new non-fiction book that's part funny memoir and part proof of life after death. It's called NOT A HORROR NOVEL, A Wild Ride in Search of the Soul.

Also, The Ninth Configuration is presently being converted to Blu-ray.

Cemetery Dance is planning publication of six of my screenplays [note: listed in a previous update], including my first draft of ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST. We're casting THE EXORCIST play in hopes of a Broadway run. Next week I MIGHT have some word on THE EXORCIST mini-series. I'll tune you in."

http://www.theninthconfiguration.com (scroll down)

Don't know who is releasing it, but hopefully it will be full restored, contain the various cuts and some compelling extras.

The Ninth Configuration!!!

Rivaled only by Withnail & I for sheer number of lines I can't stop myself from quoting.

"I think the end of the world just came for that bag of Fritos I had in my pocket."
