People tend to devaluate 3D movies when they have less up and down picture because 3D works better with 1.77:1 aspect ratio. It's a vicious circle that people can't get rid of.
As I alluded to on the Ant-man 2 thread, Ant-man has that long standout scene starting with him shrinking into the bath as well as a couple of other 3D scenes more obviously taking advantage of 3D.

Similar to that is the Wasp's kitchen fight but I think that it was a 2.35:1 aspect ratio instead. The best use 3D in that movie was when the quantum tunnel is activated and the tunnel expands to the screen, the car chase, quantum realm and then when the end credits are rolling.

Yes, but I think those footages of the Quantum realm are in IMAX AR if i'm not mistaken. That's why people choose the ones with broader footage than the ones that are 2.35:1.

This was great 3D but my hope is that QUANTUMANIA blows it out of the water next week. I am so excited and may buy the original while we wait for the likely Japanese 3D MovieNEX release of QUANTUMANIA. I do own Ant Man 2 in 3D.

The 3D in Ant-Man but doesn’t hold a can to the pantheon of Phase 3 reference quality 3D MCU movies including Ant-Man and the wasp.

About Ant-Man and the Wasp:

Todays @GFF review is Ant-Man and the Wasp and putting aside his usual in-depth expertise, he's basically saying the same thing I did above. He also wonders out aloud about Quantumania and if the fun aspect of the Ant-man movies can survive moving it to the Quantum Realm which is interesting given the reception it has received so far.
