Yep Amazon's a poor source for region coding info, and some of the region code listings on BR.com are also wrong or unconfirmed. I usually just go by the studio's region coding policy. Criterion is Region locked A. Arrow discs are locked B. And HBO and WB, among others, are region free. Etc.

A family member I know is a big fan of Game of Thrones, and they own all 4 seasons on Blu-ray. So far, this appears to be the only premium cable/satellite TV series that has been released with a Dolby ATMOS soundtrack.

I see that seasons 1 and 2 of Game of Thrones was re-released with a Dolby ATMOS soundtrack. Also starting with season 5 and beyond they also will receive a Dolby ATMOS soundtrack.

My question is: Does HBO have any plans to re-release seasons 3 and 4 with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack? It would be disappointing if fans of the series had Dolby ATMOS soundtracks for all seasons except for seasons 3 and 4.

Also this Game of Thrones series appears to have been recorded in native 1080P/24 using Arri Alexa, and Red Epic Dragon cameras.Therefore most likely the Game of Thrones series will most likely never be released onto the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format (Unless future seasons are recorded in native 4K by HBO).

Seasons 3 & 4 will be re-released later this year with Atmos audio, the steelbook spines will line up to create an image.

I did not see a official release date yet for season 3 and 4 ATMOS and I was wondering if it was canceled. I guess toward the middle or end of 2016 maybe the pre-orders might be up on Amazon.

Kind of torn between the Martell and Bolton. Martell fits more with the sandy-looking background but the sigil is the wrong color. Bolton is the correct sigil but doesn't go as well with that background and I'd have to order that one online.

Really wish they would've stuck with the old format.

take a look at how the title is on the front of the bestbuy exclusive slips and the regular slip this season, there is continuity despite the art not being consistent

the game of thrones title is much smaller and located in the middle on the regular slip

on the bestbuy slip it retains the continuity of previous exclusive slips with the title on the top and in the same size/style

I guess, but the second season already varied from the first by moving "The Complete Nth Season" to right below the GoT logo.


Showing the third season, just to show Stark and Targaryen sigils to highlight the inconsistent titles. They were not sold for the second season.


So the artwork style was really the main thing that kept me buying from Best Buy.

I will probably go with Target this year. The regular artwork is much better and they have a $10 giftcard if you pre-order and an exclusive disc "Massacre at Hardhome" which was an excellent episode in an "okay" season. Right now it is still at $39.99 at both Best Buy and Target, hopefully it drops to $29.99.

Have there been any reviews for this yet? Just want to make sure that the box under the slip cover is the same sturdy box that's been used for the first four seasons and not the cheap material that HBO sometimes uses.

I loved this season. I can't wait to start my rewatch in preparation for Season 6. The original slipcover does look better than the exclusive ones.
