I prefer the US/Golden Harvest cut of First Strike. It has a better score, better dubbing, and a lot of the cut scenes were either boring or bogged the movie down. The English dubbing in the original is awful! I would have kept in some of the backstory at the beginning, though. There's also some memes from the new dub that are lost with the original version. The only thing I really love in the uncut version is Jackie's song at the end and the extra scenes when he's "homeless." US cut is probably too short, but the HK cut is too long. But on Supercop the HK version is much better.

Ouch. If those screencaps are anything to go by, could be in for another DNR'd mess like Drunken Master II if WB decides to give this an MOD release for the uncut version.

I wanna know what exactly it is about Jackie Chan films that has Warner saying 'okay, just smear that alllll the way to hell and back, just these films in particular' I honestly haven't seen anything else that bad from them lately, only LOTR comes close. At least they didn't mess with Mr. Nice Guy, even if the audio on it is way too muffled.

I have a version with which I posted screenshots, now I have a version without Korean hardsabs. You will not find them on the Internet, they were not placed anywhere.

In another version with grain, everything is fine, it is present.

So you've seen a version of it that has the grain intact??

Would love to get my hands on a beauty like that if true. Hopefully Warner would put *that* on BD instead of the DNR'd one, but Drunken Master II has me worried. I don't think there's any grain-intact version of that movie asides from the Miramax US version.

This is a comparison between the old and the new version.
The second version is better, it is from a different source and had a Korean dubbing and did not have any hardsubs, I added the original high-quality sound from the previous WEB version, where everyone speaks their own languages, I also added English subtitles and chapters from the DVD

SBS On Demand Australia shows First Strike in HD (720p) and with Anglo-Chinese hardsubs, the quality is weak there, but when I got the sound, it turned out that the sound was remastered, it received cleaning of microphone noise and restored frequency background, even in compressed state it was not bad, maybe in the near future there will be an Australian release on Blu Ray, I really hope.

It turns out that Rumble in the Bronx is on SBS on Demand too so I'll be checking that out.

There are a bunch of other films but they are ones that have mostly had releases from Eureka or 88 Films.

I watched First Strike tonight. I assume it is the "New Line hack job" rather than the original HK cut?

I haven't watched this since VHS days so really can't remember. In fact, it was highly likely my VHS was the New Line version too.

Believe me, there was the original HK version, I checked everything, the American version is 20 minutes shorter, First Strike is the last movie with JC that I was looking for and got in good HD quality all the rest I have.

Do you mean that the 1h 47m version that is on SBS on Demand is the HK cut or the "New Line hack job"?

The 1:47 version is the full HK version and New Line is 1:24 long and the picture is heavily cropped

The Bronx has a lot of different Blu Ray releases, I'm not interested in SBS because the quality is bad.

I can tell you that the black bars were not cropped in the first place.

Hamilton Book does plan to carry the 88 Films release for Police Story III: Supercop so best to wait on that one.
