I'm sure Netflix would have kept going, but it was Fincher who was the reason it didn't continue... and he's prepping for another movie now so I wouldn't count on it, unless somebody else takes over.

‘Mindhunter’ Could Return as Three Netflix Movies, Holt McCallany Says

“Mindhunter” star Holt McCallany recently revealed to CBR that he has spoken with David Fincher about the potential return of the acclaimed Netflix serial killer drama, which ran for two seasons in 2017 and 2020. The show centered on FBI agents in the late 1970s as they launch a task force to interview serial killers as a way of understanding their pathology. If “Mindhunter” does return, however, it won’t be as a series.

“I had a meeting with David Fincher in his office a few months ago, and he said to me that there is a chance that it may come back as three two-hour movies, but I think it’s just a chance,” McCallany revealed. “I know there are writers that are working, but you know, David has to be happy with scripts.”

I loved season 1.
Season 2 was alright, but I really hated the dumb subplots that dragged down the interesting elements of all the main cast.
Wouldn't mind more of it, but I would hope that they know how to go back to what was good about it, instead of leaning into the rote characterization and uninspired storytelling beats of the second season.

I'd welcome a proper ending.

Season 2 slipped a bit; they may have been going a bit overboard with including cameos from so many infamous serial killers in one season.

They should have stayed closer to reality in the second season. Giving the second lead a troubled son to start storyteller's drama didn't work with me.
