Man, that sucks.

According to an Oklahoma reporter on Doug Gottlieb's show Gresham is done for the year. I guarantee a lot of players are going to have second thoughts about returning to school after Gresham and Bradford's injury. Although Bradford will likely be fine it is still a big gamble to return to school. Gresham might have been a first round pick and will now likely be a late-second or third round pick.

I had heard that too and posted it but then Stoops had his newsconference and denied it. I think he is done for the year though. Both Gresham and Bradford are now gonna be the posterboys for leaving school early for NFL, which is gonna make more leave early.

I bet there is going to be a lot more college players going early this year anyway because of the possible (in reality likely) NFL lockout in 2011 and strong possibility of a rookie wage scale in the new collective bargaining agreement.

I'm all for them implementing a rookie wage scale. I think it's absurd the amount of money they are getting without proving a thing yet in the NFL. All the while you have veterans who have performed for years and they are getting waaaay less.

It's really not as bad as it could be. We have a bye this week, so our next game is not until Sept 19 at home vs. Southeastern Louisiana (FCS team, weak scheduling, I know...)

So our sick players have two weeks to rest for a game that they won't have to be 100% for anyway. The flipside to that is that we'll have to go 11 weeks without a rest through our SEC schedule

Oh, that's good then. Good thing you have a bye week so they can rest up. I'm pulling for you guys to make the SEC title game and take Florida out! Loved it last year when you beat them in the swamp. I thought for sure that would keep them outta the national title game but it didn't.

+1!! And I think the "guaranteed" money or "signing bonus" or whatever you want to call it is completely out of control. If Matt Stafford gets into an accident on the way home, severly injures his throwing arm to point of career-ending (God forbid), and never suits up again, Detroit pays the dude $22 million and he's set for life!

I don't mind someone being compensated for doing what they do well, but come on!

That's going to be a tall order, my friend! After seeing them Sat night, it looks like Bama could have their way with any team in the SEC, including Florida. If they play at the level they did vs. VT, I really think they could upset Florida for the conference title.

Thanks for the good wishes, though!

Even at 2-5 you'd be good, go pay off the car/house, and stick the rest in interest baring accounts. I doubt most do that though.

The NFL just needs to copy the NBA model. 2 year contracts, with 2 years of team options. Keep the salary cap so the veterans are getting the big money the rookies are currently getting. This gets rid of all holdouts because the team can't give you more even if they wanted to. ♦

Great observation. Roger Goodell runs the NFL really well, but overall I think David Stern does the best job with the NBA. You're right, they're a great model.

Went to that OU game. Yeah that was great. What a great weekend. Bradford hurt, team looks like crap.

Jerry has the see-through TP in the restrooms. Thanks for that Jerry, you greedy little biatch.

I didn't get to watch any of the game. How does OU's defense look? It's going to be all on their shoulders until Bradford gets back, especially with Gresham out. Scary.

Are all Rutgers fans as excited about Savage as the commentators said? He's good, but he just didn't have much of a chance to shine in that game. It would just be interesting to hear an RU fan's perspective on a true freshman QB.

Looks like Georgia is going to turn to sophomore Logan Gray at quarterback. Senior Joe Cox apparently has an arm issue, and struggled last week against Oklahoma State, although he apparently had the flu. I wonder if Georgia will stick with Gray if he plays well.

I'll give total transparency here......

I am a Michigan Wolverines' fan......

I am sick and tired of Ohio State going to championships that they don't deserve to go to because they're overrated...... Michigan has STRUGGLED over the past few years, yet they remain the "Crowning Achievement" of OSU's season...... seems silly..... then they face a team that actually deserves to be in the championship, and they get their butts handed to them.... Makes the Nat'l Championship game pointless year-after-year....

I'm hoping (and fully expecting) USC to beat them by 20 points Saturday.... and hopefully that's enough to end any delusions of them going back to the Nat'l Championship....

Also... I graduated from the University of Cincinnati, and it looks like they could be the team to beat in the Big-East.... GO BEARCATS! Ever since the "Scare" in Paul Brown Stadium, OSU won't put UC back on the schedule, yet they keep playing Akron, Youngstown, Toledo, BGSU etc... because they want to trounce every other in-state school...... well..... PUT UC BACK ON THE SCHEDULE........ UC would love the opportunity to play them again, and the A.D. stated so much, but OSU won't respond to requests anymore...... hmmmm
