Great movie and great transfer. Watched it last night and am really happy with it.

So far all my orders from Barnes & Noble have arrived in good shape. They were all shipped individually with extra sheets of cardboard in the package for protection. Plus I got them for 50% off. What a time to be alive.

, but one would think it'd arrive in better condition, the shorter it's underway. I guessed wrong - my first UPS shipment must've been an accident. I also only used UPS because it was a large order and didn't matter much shipping cost wise plus the no Hermes tracking thingy. The only reason I didn't cancel "Uncut Gems" was the price. Will place an order for the other Criterions I want in January elsewhere.

Yeah they are okay. Sure no comparison to cardboard but way better than those white plastic bags. I really don't understand why the packing from the Amazon Europe Depts. is so much better than the US.
Though I have to say that all Digibooks I ordered from amazon.com arrived great and two even came in real cardboard with padding.

The potato sack seems to have some internal cushioning, yeah. Didn't do a bad job at all, though I think having four movies in there also helped in that they were stronger when clumped together. (I literally had to pull my Kane packaging apart to free the 4Kane disc from its cardboard prison though, oh sweet irony)

Yea, receiving this in such crappy condition reminded me why I never use Amazon for movies. It literally looks like it was used as a hockey puck at the warehouse. Ran to BN just now and grabbed the sole copy in-store and it looks absolutely pristine.

Gonna return my unopened, damaged copy back to BN on Monday on the way home from work. So glad I took a chance and drove over there in this holiday shopping traffic.This might be the best 4K release of 2021, packaging and all.

This also has the best booklet of any Criterion imo.

The only thing that makes the Lionsgate release better is the option for Spanish subtitles. As someone with a girlfriend who relies on Spanish dubs or subtitles, it's definitely disappointing that Criterion did not include this... at least on the 4K. Maybe it's on the blu-ray.

WOW... just finished the director's commentary and it was EPIC. ONE of the best and most honest I've ever heard. I have a newfound respect for the Safdie bros. The mix of histrionics and brutal honesty in what the performers and crew went through... absolutely next level.

could anyone who's watched the original lionsgate blu-ray and the new 4k version tell me if they think the latter is a significant upgrade? the site's review makes it seem like generally there isn't a substantial or noticeable difference between the two. this would be my first 4k blu-ray purchase, just want to make sure it's worth it. thanks.

Got this as a blind buy the other day. I cant believe the praise this film is getting, I thought it was absolute shit. I'll be selling/trading it off ASAP.

Nothing wrong with that. Everything isn't for everyone

This was my second time watching this film, and I liked it even more this time. Its a pretty deep film if you look beyond the surface. Looks and sounds amazing on this disc. And seeing that wagon in 4k was amazing

Citizen Kane and Menace arrived over the weekend. Kane was a little dinged but I'm being forgiving about it and I don't mind requesting replacement packaging from Criterion when they're able too but Menace I am pretty sure is in mint condiiton? sometimes the wrinkles on the shrinkwrap under certain lighting makes it seem the slipcase might be dinged but from what I can tell it's fine. So that just leaves Uncut Gems which arrives later today. As long as the digipack isn't squished/bulging out like my Mulholland Dr. I can live with minor dinged corners

Weirdly even though there is no HDR10+, I still had to disable it on my Panny to get DV to work

Ordered Walmarts 4k blu ray listing, the 1080p disc was shipped.

Filed an exchange, and they sent the same 1080p disc, so it is mislabeled as posited above.

Return both and going with Amazon as it's $25 atm.
