Tried the component cables. No luck. Thanks for the help, though.

adamh, seems like your HDMI port is loose. If you're brave enough to open the PS3, see if there's any burnt areas around the HDMI port. It'll have carbon residue if it's burnt; use an isopropyl alcohol swab to swipe the area for confirmation. tqmilymi, yours is a bit more extensive. Could be an RSX problem or video out problem since it did not YLOD. A bit more mysterious. fuad |

My 60gb would lose connection(both audio and video) through HDMI on certain games and Blu rays. It go so bad I even brought Singstar Vol 1 back to the store and got a new copy of it.The same thing happened. I tried the same games/movies on my friends 40gb and brothers 80gb on the same TV with the same HDMI cord and they played them no problem.
I did manage to fix it though.... I had my PS3 video output selected to 1080i as that was the max my old TV, when I changed it back to 720p all games and BD worked fine. I had the other two PS3s at 1080i and they worked fine, just happens on my 60gb. I would like to test this on another 60 but none of my mates have that version. Currently have the 60gb on a 1080p with 1080p selected and it has no problems! ~d Edit: Love the Gary Busey avatars Mike! ![]() Last edited by daevv; 04-14-2009 at 03:11 PM. |

It only does it when signing online with ps3 games. We play cod4 together and his system will loose game audio or go black and reboot or both.
Any ideas? he has reformatted, he has gone direct with his lan. He uninstalled the map pack, but I have run out of ideas. It will play dvd's just fine, but it wont play bd games. he has spoken to the sony reps etc, he has had it for about a year. Their solution is to send it back and they will give him a new refurb for $150. Our other option is to use my reciept and take it back to wally world. Not sure on this one yet, because then I think my barcode will be out, if mine ever breaksdown. Last edited by SPH; 04-17-2009 at 05:19 PM. |

Sounds like the Blu-ray drive in it is dying. Is it still under warranty?

Nope. I agree with the drive or the firmware in the drive being cooked. If it were mine I would come up with a drive and fix it myself. He is scared to do it, and have opened it and not get the refurb. Which is odd because he is a Mechanic by trade and I am not but I would tear that thing open in a heartbeat. We thought it may be overheating but only appears to be running at about 100 degrees on the exhaust side. He cleaned it up a couple of weeks ago and that seemed to be about when it started, at least in my mind |

This probably won't work since the serial # prints on the receipt and most likely the store CSR will have to scan both the receipt and the unit and they will be able to tell the #'s won't match. They will also be able to find out where his was purchased from when they scan it. I've tried this before when a friend of mines 360 got the RRD and that's what happened.

This is not good at all either. Static can damage electronics. Maybe he needs to ground himself before touching it or something. =P
