So, if I have a player from 220-electronics that is region-free for Blu-ray, will that same mod allow me to play the locked 4K disc? I am probably going to wait and see what happens with the 4K Cult version, but I'm just curious.

As long as you get a Region Free 4K UHD Blu-ray Player!

Stumped by your question, but yes!

If you have a region-free 4K blu ray player, you would simply choose region B (instructions would have been included for you to do this) and be able to play both the 4K and the Blu.

Though I have ordered the Region B 4K, I too am waiting on the 4Kult edition....

New 4Kult release is region free, confirmed in a reddit post.

One of the replies to that Reddit thread says there were English subtitles. To get the movie on physical media, I can live without having an English subtitles, but that would certainly be preferable as I do like to watch with subtitles on, so, is that true?

Also, any better Italian-to-US shipping options than Amazon? $18, woof...

Are you referring to the 4Kult reissue (the region-free one) or the first pressing from January? The first pressing has optional Italian subs for the entire film and English subtitles for the parts of the film, such as the silent montage early on, that have on-screen titles translated into Italian. Other than that, no English subtitles are present.

Either one, or both.

Except for the not infrequent translations of Osage dialogue.

Has anyone, anywhere confirmed that the region-free disc has the same options as the Region B disc?

-Are there forced italian subs?

-Does it still have the same translated Italian intertitles for the silent film section?

The original Region B locked version has the silent film intertitles that are in Italian, with English subs, when you choose English for the menu language.

As to the new 4Kult release, expect for the Reddit dude confirming it is Region Free, I don’t think anyone on this forum has a copy yet.

However, I would assume the Region Free release would be exactly the same as the Region B (Italian inter titles with English subs). Since it is an Italian dizzy AND I doubt they would a) Utilise a new transfer OR b) Use seamless branching to change the intertitles to English and c) Apple Pus wouldn’t be happy with a physical media copy of the film, out in the world, that is the same as an English language region stream.

I’m having to go with physical media since I live in Australia and the film was censored to get an M rating from MA15+.

As a US equivalent, an M rating is like getting a PG-13 with F-bombs, although there is a lot more tolerance for violence in an M rating
VS. the MA15+ rating, which is akin to an R rating, but the restrictions are for 15 year olds, not 17 year olds (MA15+ rating allows 15 years and older in with Parent/Guardian).

approx. 3-5 seconds of gore has been removed from KOTFM for Australian audiences to bring it to a wider audience in the theatres, on its 1-2 Week run. What a croc of shit!

I don't think Eagle has legal access to the original English intertitles. They can only release the version of the movie available to them, with Apple clearly not involved in this physical edition.

I am pretty confident that the 4Kult release will have the Italian intertitles in the silent film parts, ‘cos that is all that is available to them. They will have simply fixed the Region B issue.

UPDATE: According to Aussie site Refused Classification.com, there is actually approximately 10 seconds of footage removed. Some of the cuts are not gory, but have been taken out for continuity purposes.

Link to RC.com page below that discusses censored part (Note: Spoiler to a character’s death).

Not my pictures but hopefully this makes it very clear how the subtitles are handled.

Just finished. It’s a phenomenal transfer. One of the lines has some typos but other than that the English subs are exactly like what was shown in theaters.

Ok so pardon me for not reading this entire thread yet... but it looks like the original version of this disc the 4k disc is region locked... but there is a newer version where it is not? Can anyone post links? I was considering ordering from Amazon Italy, but I don't want to spend all this money and end up with a disc I can't watch. Gonna go back and read the thread now...
