i ordered it from the Amazon Italy link that was posted here on July 26th. It just arrived today. It still shows it's available if anyone still is in need. They crammed the amazon mailer envelope into into my apartment mailbox, but thank god no damage.

I don't get the mindset behind this.

"Well it's clearly not going to fit, and it's not a flexible package...I'LL JUST PUSH HARDER!"

Apparently, the not even 30 seconds to fill out the "didn't fit, come pick up" tag is worse then the complaint over the "driver shoved package too large for slot and damaged contents" and eventually having to deal with the consequences for enough of those piling up.

A lot of apartment mailboxes have a narrower opening when you are taking out mail than when a postal worker is placing mail in the box. Postal carriers can access every apt mailbox at once by opening the entire front. But when that front is closed and you open only your unit mailbox, there is usually (at least with standard USPS approved apt mailboxes in the US) a little overhanging ridge along the the top that narrows the opening. The mail carrier likely had no issue getting the steelbook into the mailbox.

It also depends on the size of the box, and even with instructions to leave it at the counter if there's a question about the overhang, they'll still jam it in anyway, which with steels there usually is unless you have a larger box.

Carriers, and workers alike are aware of the overhang, and even with specific instructions NOT to jam something that won't make it out the other side, as it causes mail to jam and if you can't pull it, someone has to come back out and open the whole thing up remove just your mail (and possibly anyone else the carrier/po worker did it to) and make a pile of your mail for you to pick up at the post office.

When it happens at the post office proper, it really annoys the front counter people, and everyone in the back who winds up having to clean up after someone who was too lazy to clean up after someone who jammed something in that the customer couldn't get out.
