Default bass traps

Hey JJ, nice setup, worth the money and hunger pains! I have 4 of similar bass traps as you, but I use them to block sound to a door for near-by neighbors (don't ask). Wondering if you noticed a difference of the traps being there, as opposed to not being there. If your like me, I imagine you would place them>play a movie scene>remove them>play a movie scene: and then see the difference. Oh, thanks for taking Farve off our hands, now we have a better team....sorry for passing the old man off on you!

Very Nice thread. Excellent Progression! I very much like the look and feel of your room. Excellent gear as well! And the Decor is also very tasteful IMO.
All around NICE! I need to take so more pics to post as well. I really like how you did you gallery page. Very detailed with the comments and such.

Congrats on all your stuff and new found love of HT. I completely understand and agree!

Ah, you caught me off-guard with this post, I thought this thread had died! I was waiting on resurrecting it after Christmas when I do some much-needed cleanup, wire-control, and add some rope lighting, a new receiver, and a new Blu-ray player, and try to organize everything out! Thanks for the comments, XXX!

I'm looking forward to the 26th,

LOL, I didn't know the Freakazoid was so becoming.

I've got two new toys under the Christmas tree over at my mother's house - she picked up a Panny 35 for me at Costco for $200 (of course, I'm not getting anything else) - and I sold my Marantz, and used the money to buy a Pioneer Elite VSX-03. Also under the tree. Can't wait to hook it all up!

Wow, what a surprise. No offense against Pioneer they make excellent units, but out of everything I listened to earlier this year when I was shopping AVRs the 7002 and 8002 were at the top of my list. Curious, why the switch?

It's grayed out in my sig until it's setup. I debated between the VSX-03, the Yamaha 1900. I never considered another Marantz, or for that matter Denon, Sony, or Onkyo (not for any reasons, just had my heart set on either Yammy or Pio). And when I was able to get the 03 for only $800 total from Best Buy, of all places, I couldn't pass it up.

Damn American Signature Furniture.

http://s7d4.scene7.com/is/image/ASF/1186949_S?$lg$

It was $250 in store, but only $150 on their website! I saw it up close, it's gorgeous and has all the space I need...but at 30" high, it might be too tall, I have to go check how high my TV is mounted...

But at 20" deep, 60" wide, and able to hold 200 lbs - its perfect!

JJ,

Keep your stand, invest in wall mounts after you move!

That stand is definitely the nicer looking of the 2 (vs. the one you have), but honestly I prefer your current one. It has more room for gear from what I can tell. But hey, for $150 that new one is a steal.

My stand simply doesnt have a lot of space at only 4' wide, plus, doesn't hide wires very well...

It was never meant to be a centerpiece like it is now!

I've been questing to find it's replacement - at least 5" wide, good wire hiding techniques, able to hold at least 175 pounds, and semi-match my current decor.

I tried IKEA, but no luck, and stopped into ASF on a whim...and voila! What a beaut!

Default Bass Traps

JJ,

It's obvious you like the bass traps. I have a hard-hitting sub and it rattles my windows/walls sometimes. My question is, do the bass traps cut down on this?

I want to cut down on rattling windows but still want the sub to be as loud/hit as hard as it does right now.

Also, can you hook me up w/a location where I can order them or did you make them?

Thanks mang!

Ray

Give me some info, Ray - what's the sub? The bass traps cut down on a bit of the rumbling - but it's more about finding the right place for the subwoofer inside your room as well as tuning it right (phase/level). Bass traps are also ugly as all hell, and the pair I have I received for free from a friend in music production. Try eBay, or Auralex products.
