In no particular order:
Night on Earth - Great Jim Jarmusch multi-star international cast Johnny Stecchino - Screwball romance with Roberto Benigni & wife Big Night - GREAT movie about food. I really love this movie. Jesus of Montreal - Powerful movie Flirting - My favorite coming of age movie with Noah Taylor, Thandie Newton, Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts. GREAT movie. Tootsie - Pretty mainstream, but still one of the funniest movies ever made. Belle Epoque - Sexy, fun romp in Spain. Penelope Cruz. Arthur - Also mainstream (and unavailable in letterbox), but still one of the greatest. Fresh - Someone else said this one already, but it deserves a second mention. Shallow Grave - Another great thriller with Ewan McGregor. Trouble in Paradise - The greatness of Lubitsch. Way ahead of its time. Nikita - Hot French assassin. In the Name of the Rose - Sean Connery as a monk detective. Day of the Jackal - Great assassination thriller. The Aristocrats - Hilarious documentary about...a joke. The Wanderers - Interesting movie about New York street gangs of the early 60s. Frantic - Roman Polanski, Harrison Ford, sexy French woman. What's not to love? The Last Picture Show The Killing Fields - Great war movie. The Pope of Greenwich Village - From when Mickey Rourke was king. Gallipoli - Fantastic war movie from Australia featuring Mel Gibson before he went wacko. Breaker Morant - Another war/drama movie from our Aussie friends. The Year of Living Dangerously - Another Australian mainstream movie with Mel Gibson often overlooked. Can you tell I like Australian movies? |

Man Bites Dog. Absolutely hilarious French film about a documentary filmmaker's relationship with a serial killer about who he is making a documentary. You just have to see it to understand.

How about:
FUBAR - Mockumentary about 2 headbangers. Pretty funy and had a lot of heart. You forget that you're watching a documentary and think that it's a home movie! Last Night - Canadian film a film about strangers and what they do before the world ends. (released in '98 before the whole crazy Y2K started) Waydowntown - Several office employees decide to make a bet on who can stay the longest without going outside of the building. Things You Can Tell Just By looking At Her - Five different stories interwoven about 7 different women. (stars Cameron Diaz, Glenn Close, Holly Hunter to name a few) Timecode - Mike Fggis directed this film where the movie is presented in FOUR separate qaudrants on the screen. I LOVED IT! You can watch it more than once and every viewing is different b/c you witness something new in each screen! Series 7 - A TV reality movie where the contestants are given guns to kill off each other for money and fame. a Comedy Thriller. Titus - William Shakespeares MOST controversial play. Mixed with both beautiful and brutal images! Anthony Hopkins and Jessica Lange star; Directed by Julie Taymor. My Kid Could Paint That - A documentary about a 4 year old girl gaining success and selling her paintings for thousands of dollars but people are curious if the parents have something to do with how the painting are made. VERY VERY good documentary! C.R.A.Z.Y. - Canadian French film about a young man coming to terms with his sexuality and dealing with his family and his father. AMAZING performances! I'm sure I have more. Last edited by clrb15; 06-11-2009 at 02:31 PM. |

The logistical requirements of shooting this movie are mind-boggling--blocking one continuous shot for four scripts running continually. Great recommendation. |

"Bad Boy Bubby" - a sick movie but you have to watch it for the beginning to see how sick it can get...
"Blood In, Blood Out" - a movie about L.A. chicano gangs from the 70's to prison to current day and the struggles the old crew goes through when one of them chooses military over prison and becomes a cop |

In my opinion, I think Strange Days is an extremely underrated film. It was produced and co-written by James Cameron but was completely overlooked upon being released in 95. Police corruption, murder, illegal cyber erotic recordings, civil unrest, and Tom Sizemore. How can you go wrong with this?

Day of the Dolphin- Thriller starring George C. Scott about talking dolphins.
Paper Lion- Based on a true story about writer George Plimpton going undercover as a backup quarterback at the Detroit Lions training camp. Starring Alan Alda and also starring former NFL greats. Red Sun- Charles Bronson and Toshiro Mifune star as a Cowboy and a Samurai trying to retrieve a lost sword in the old west. Pretty much Shanghai Noon before Shanghai Noon. Crossroads- No, not the Britney Spears movie. This one is about a Julliard guitar prodigy who wants to be a blues man. Starring Ralph Macchio and also starring Joe Seneca (who steals the show) and Steve Vai in a great guitar battle. Tender Mercies- Won some Oscars but it still isn't very well known today. Its about a has been, alcoholic, country music singer who winds up in the middle of nowhere in Texas and tried to turn his life around. Very moving film. Starring Robert Duvall and Tess Harper.
