I thaught maybe you know let's try this on another receiver and wow to my surprise those speaker sounded coherent with alot more puch and far superior definition in the upper end when it was hooked up to an HK3600 10 minutes after listening to them on the Onkyo.

I'm not a hater but they are not to musical to my ears athough they perform very well in HT.

Steve BTW first time I heard the Sttaf was on a Integra Receiver with an Integra cd player and it sounded good. I have been told by 2 dealers so far that Integra is a step up to Onkyo.

One thing though is Onkyo / Integra has the best Video processing out there on the higher end models with the HQV chip.
I have an Onkyo 805.... lol
Not the 806 or the 807..... Those two do not compare to the 805 model that came before them. Neither one of them comes close to the power and they not not have the Burr Brown DAC in them.

Are you fimiliar with Burr Brown?

see and that is why I said, I hadn't heard your 805, but the X06/07 models didn't do anything for me.... kinda like the Studio 60 v.4.... really didn't like that speaker... esp for the price... Rhett felt the same way about the Studio 100 v.4.

anyways, the 805 is known for being a beast and an awesome receiver, I am sure you are right, its a different animal and sounds awesome...

Not really but man than I would like to hear the 805 but your model must be 3 years old.

So would be interesting to compare the 805 to 807, Have you done side by side comparaison sound wise?

I dunno how the newer 808 sounds but 807 just did not do it.

Ok so what DAC is Onkyo using now then?

I have found on the 707 and 807 use a Burr Brown DAC and HK uses a Cirrus Logic then why was the sound so poor?

Here the link to 807 using the Burr Brown DAC. As for Video the 80x series doe not have the HQV they they still have the DCDI Faroudja chip like my HK.

http://www.us.onkyo.com/model.cfm?m=...s=Receiver&p=f

Seriously must be the Amplification as you mentionned they are not as nearly as powerful as the 805 and since Current plays a big role in sound the HK high current design certainly made a difference during my audition.

Loved what heard from the INtegras so far paired with Totems Sttaf.

learned something tonight, I didn't know they put that DAC in the 707 or 807.

I have not compared, I have been told that the 3007 and the 805 are the closest, but I'm starting to wonder how true that statement is.

Steve I can assure you that finding a Dynaudio speaker in canda is not to easy only four dealers in total, one in Montreal, one in Toronto, one in Calgary and finally one In Victoria.

I have to get my ass out there and give a listen to the Focus 110, 140 and 220 if I can.

There is also one in Edmonton just not listed on their site. In the Yellow Pages ad it had all the speaker brands listed(including Dynaudio) so I called to confirm and hopefully my next trip I can visit them. Paradigm is the same way. My dealer has been selling them for almost 10 years but they don't pop up on the dealer locator page.

That's a wicked price of the RC-LCR you just posted! Those will be gone quick!! I'm still waiting for some news on a new RC line. My buddy is a Manager at a Winnipeg FS store and hasn't heard anything yet..

Hey Jason! I'm glad you enjoyed listening to some Dyns. Which one was your favorite?

So....are you going to trade in your MAs for some Dynos?

Ahhh!!! The C2! One of my all time favorite Dyns. Despite their size, they're very easy to integrate! Plus they're not really picky about electronics.

What amps, pres and sources did they have?

Great! Yep Arcam and Dyns have pretty good synergy. Arcam gives you some of that PRAT that British Hifi is famous for

Awesome...

I didn't get enough time on my visit to listen to too many of them, but next time I go back I am gonna ask them to let me listen to these:

Saphires, Contour 3.4, and Focus 110As, plus the Excites again....

I am also gonna ask to hear the following Totems

Hawks, Forests, Winds and the Rainmakers

I have heard the Arros and the Sttafs

I am probably gonna be between the Dynaudio Excites X16s and X22 Center or the Totem Rainmakers and Rainmaker Center, Both setups should be in my budget and can be driven rather easily by most common receivers, although I am looking at 4 ohn stable receivers just to make sure I don't have issues until I can afford to add an amp down the road.

MAke sure you audition the Focus first then make your way up to the sapphires, otherwise, you're definitely going to get ruined.
