The last Blu-Ray 3D release I watched was my copy of Dune, watched it as a double feature with Dune 2.

The last theatrical feature I saw in 3D was Transformers One. Glad I did cause the cinema I went to got rid of the 3D showings after only one week.

Or someone just swapped the label on to the blu case because the 4K case got damaged?

I must give Billy Lynn a re-watch. The first time I saw this film was at a friend's house on his 4K disc: It was (and this isn't an exaggeration) by far the worst, cheap & hideous looking 4K disc I'd ever seen - entirely down to the fact that it was 60fps. (I know, plenty of people around here love HFR, both real and fake.) I did not enjoy it.

Anyway, I watched it again a couple of years later, this time in 3D. It was the most profound example I've ever experienced of the format affecting my enjoyment & appreciation of a film. So, this is certainly a 3D disc I'd recommend. (And I'd recommend putting the 4K disc into the blender...)

I feels like a film that's already fairly forgotten: I hear few people talk about it (other than maybe, "Is that the one with the fella who's Talyor Swift's ex..?). Here's another way I'd gauge how watchable it is: I remember being impressed with how much gravitas Vin Diesel brought to the piece!

EDIT. I should probably add that I don't think this is exactly a great example of 3D movie making (despite it being natively shot, which I think had become pretty rare by the time it was made). And that's maybe a bit disappointing considering the stereographer was the same chap who made TS Spivet and Hugo such 3D classics. It's nice enough 3D, but maybe not as nice as you might like it to be.

Thank you. I did begin to wonder if this is a movie I should think about purchasing. Especially when I saw the cast list of the posted picture. Is it as good as TS or Hugo? A great movie with ho hum 3D is still a great movie in 3D

3D wise I don't think it's really in the same league as those two. Movie wise, I don't know, maybe at the bottom end of the same league? One thing I really liked about it though is that it was a 3D film that wasn't an action movie/superhero movie/genre movie. It's primarily a drama for adults - incredibly rare in the modern era of 3D. And perhaps that alone makes it an essential purchase? I would say so.

Does this have any scenes that were built for HFR?

Not that it would be a deal-breaker, mostly asking out of curiosity, since even non HFR 3D films can have that crop up (eg: TMNT2, Alita, The Meg 2)

I assume Ang Lee would tell you that the entire film was built for HFR! And for 3D. All I can say - and, of course, this is just one man's opinion - I thought the HFR totally ruined every single shot in the movie...

If nothing else, Billy Lynn is a good example of even modest 3D helping enhance the viewing experience beyond the genre of action, horror, science fiction and animation (I consider this more a drama than a war picture).
