I appreciate the effort on Trilogy of Terror II despite the incomplete elements. Is it a similar situation with the 6 or 7 that might not get released now, or are there legal reasons stopping their release?

Ended up with Sangaree 3D, Oscar, The Ghost of Sierra de Cobre, the restored Nothing Sacred, Prizzi's Honor, and Death Rides a Horse. Probably going to go back and grab both seasons of The Outer Limits after payday.

Also, I think it's ridiculous to expect Kino to be responsible for reconstructing a TV miniseries owned by Disney. It's one thing when a film is just getting a new transfer or master, but that's the sort of project that's done for rebroadcast or long-term rather than just a video release.

I think all the posts about Storm of the Century have been pretty understanding, just disappointed at the principle. A couple people, including myself, even suggested selling SotC at an increased price.

Won't help, there just aren't enough people to buy it. It would cost far too much given the potential sales for the title.

It's maddening. King can sell 20,000 copies of a novel easily but a movie with his screenplay apparently not.

Picked up The Ice Harvest, Mad Dog and Glory, and a couple of 3-D titles: Gog and Sangaree.

Question -- I notice the sale is Studio Classics. Are there other non-Studio Classics sales throughout the year, like World Cinema, for example?

In hindsight, it would appear, the industry was very shortsighted when they transitioned to editing on tape in an attempt to save time and money. How ironic it now is that it costs just that, a lot more time and money, to make these titles presentable in HD to meet today's standards.

If you look over his filmography, most of the movies adapted from his books and stories flopped (https://www.boxofficemojo.com/franch...tephenking.htm), and some of the more successful ones aren't horror (The Green Mile, Stand by Me, The Running Man). Even The Dead Zone couldn't find much of an audience.

Just wait until all those digitally shot films start to go the way of nitrate prints because they're originated on obsolete systems and no longer compatible with the new hardware.

That reminds me that we haven't gotten Hearts in Atlantis on Blu-ray yet. But based on that list, most of the theatrical films have already been released on Blu-ray.

I don't know if this sort of information is available yet, but how are sales of the Hannibal UHD going? Looking like enough to justify further 4K releases?

I'm about to order my copy now

Getting mad at a label insider, a la seagal, the day a massive sale starts is weird timing. That's like breaking up with your girlfriend on the day she tells you, "I want to take our sex life to the next level."

But specifically I'm talking about the ones he was directly involved in, i.e. wrote the screenplay for. You'd think his fans of his writing which are alot would be eager to own everything he wrote for in their collections. At least 20,000 people. I remember at one point wanting to own everything he wrote before I ran out of space, I thought there would be many more like me.

Just speaking as a King fan I have no desire to own movies like Salem's Lot, It or Dark Tower but great interest in Storm of the Century and Rose Red. I think his direct involvement goes a long way in getting fans on board the film projects.

Except the numbers don't bear that out, or Maximum Overdrive, Cat's Eye or Silver Bullet would be right at the top of that box-office list. And for a 20-year old TV miniseries to sell anywhere near 20,000 copies in an era when even limited 3000 copy runs of back-catalogue titles take years to sell out (and usually don't until the price drops to under $15 in a sale) is a long shot few would put real cash on the barrel for. Certainly Disney - who aren't short of a few bucks - don't think it likely enough to spend the money themselves.

I now have images of the insider getting anonymous heavy breathing phone calls asking "What color T-shirt are you wearing...?"

Which would probably be preferable to the way they are treated in this thread!

Stephen King once said he no longer writes for money. Someone should ask him to bankroll the restoration.
That's a great idea. He wrote this property as a screenplay, for the purpose of the miniseries. I wish that's something he would get behind. That's a drop in the bucket for him, restoring something like that. Wishful thinking, I know. If he wanted to do it, I'm sure he would.
