The aches = the worst part. Took me nearly 2 weeks to shake that one when I got sick in December.

Feeling pretty good today after getting a head cold last week. Still some congestion.

This was almost my exact situation lol. Started feeling sick last Thursday night, called in sick on Friday and stayed in bed practically all weekend, feeling miserable. Finally decided to visit the ER Sunday night into Monday because I just felt so horrible. It was just the Flu. I'm still not 100%. It sucks

I think it's great you're accommodating your son. My folks moved right in the middle of high school, and it wrecked me. I stopped playing baseball after as I couldn't adjust to the new school.

And wth, I thought I was older than you? lol

That just happened in my area last year. They added a Chick-fil-A, Raising Caine's, a new tire shop, Chase bank, Autozone, and a handful of other smaller food joints. Then they topped it off in November with the opening of a Home Depot. There's almost no space to drive as there's a Costco on the same lot (which went up 2 years ago and started the initial traffic mess), and the only thing separating the Home Depot building and the street is just the sidewalk and a small landscaped slope. They're just cramming everything they can in there, it feels like it's on the street. Then there's all that Starbucks traffic...

But don't get me wrong, I'm a Home Depot guy. Happy to have one close now since I previously had to drive to the neighboring town to the other HD in my area.

Where I live in California still has a lot of undeveloped land, which is one reason why I moved out here. But we're slowly losing space. I actually have 26 miles of mountain bike trails that's a 5 min ride from my house, but half of it will be gone in the next couple of years for a new housing project.

My town badly needs some better stores...Hell, we even lack decent convenience stores or bodegas. The ONE corner store by me closes at 6 PM and is closed on Sunday. Who the hell closes a convenience store at 6 PM? A year or so ago I walked into another one, larger, and bought a carton of milk. Took it home to realize it was spoiled, funny thing is it wasn't expired! Safe to say I never went back there. The only other option is a new-ish convenience store 2 blocks from me and the town's sole supermarket. I moved there because rents weren't out of control. Despite the lack of stores, I still think the cheap coat of living is a good tradeoff.

Taxes alone it is probably worth it, but there is a trade off.

By far, my biggest decision today will be whether I get dessert here at Applebee's (three or four brownie bites at $1 each) or walk over to Cold Stone and spend at least twice as much for some delicious ice cream.

Breaking news: I have decided that I will go to Cold Stone so now the most important decision I have to make is whether or not I walk over to Best Buy which is in the same plaza.

You would love going on a cruise. So much food and unlimited ice cream.

Ha, you might be right! Or maybe to Vegas for the buffets.

Since you mentioned cruises, I should mention traveling. My interest in things kind of ebbs and flows and I guess it's not unusual that I might not always be as interested in certain things, like traveling. I can't remember if I've actually mentioned it but I'm not sure where all I could actually travel to with my record. That is something I would have to consider if I was seriously considering going back to Europe.
But I mean I have the means to be able to return, once I get my passport renwed.

Would you like to travel to Europe someday?

Yeah..Vegas would be a good option as well. I've been meaning to get out there to check out the Titanic exhibit at Luxor. They have a large piece of the hull brought up in the 90s.

Yeah..I've wanted to get out there for a while now. Probably need at least a few weeks.

The other day, i did directions via Google maps on my computer. When I selected my location, it had me starting in Washington State. Umm, what? Now I just Googled Hertz and it's giving me locations in Washington. Is Jeff Bezos behind this? Pretty soon I'll be getting results for locations in South Africa lol

Where would you like to go first? My Ireland trip was going to be 13 days in country but of course my accident extended that to just over 60. My Germany/Austria trip 2 years later was for 24 days in country and I kind of felt like after that trip, maybe any future trips less than 24 days would seem underwhelming. I think that thought did enter my mind but I think I did get over it too.
Ireland - 2013
Germany/Austria - 2015

For 2017, in my initial thoughts, I had it narrowed down to
Sweden
Norway
Czech Republic
UK (Maybe just England or maybe England and Scotland)

I'd like to think that I'll return someday.

Today is the tenth anniversary of my Mom's passing from lung cancer; I'm truly grateful she was only in the hospital for two weeks (it seemed longer at the time). I bought a small steel cross with a green stone in it (we were both born in August), and placed some of her ashes in it with the help of my roommate. It may not mean much to less sentimental types, but I'm comforted to have a small piece of her literally close to my heart now. I said this at her memorial, and it still holds true - "My mother was no saint, but she had one of the biggest hearts of anyone I knew."
