Are Hot Toys bootlegs on ebay common?

I saw this listing for Rey (Resistance Outfit) from a seller in Thailand. The price seems too good to be true. The seller accepted my offer for $150 US with free shipping and still has over 10 for sale.

Any way to tell if it's legit when I get the figure? Would it be obvious?

The seller has 100% feedback and no one has called them out for selling bootlegs.

I think it should be easy to tell by the quality. Whenever I see reviews for knock offs, they look noticeably terrible. Hopefully since the feedback was good yours is fine. I don’t know how easy/rare these Star Wars ones are to find.

I think I'll take a chance on this one. I figure paypal/ebay will have my back if it's a knock off. I'll post a pic here when I get it, see what you guys think.

This is such a great deal mainly because of the free shipping. Sideshow website charges $50.

Looks legit to me. Resistance Rey is currently $187 at Popcultcha. He probably got a bulk rate deal and can sell them cheaper. Looks like he has 25 of them.

Damn, I'm in this now. The Rey figure was my first Hot Toys purchase, then I saw the Hoth Leia on the sideshow site and couldn't resist, and now I found a Canadian store that has a TFA Luke figure. I'll buy Last Jedi Kylo when it comes out and then I'm done!

I wish these companies would chose another service other than UPS. I’m getting $17 in import fees + $38 in “brokerage” fees for a $110 item?!?! Didn’t the selling company already pay those f#ckers for shipping? Greedy asshats!

I got hit with a $50 fee when I got that Hoth Leia figure from Sideshow collectibles. I don't think I'll order direct from them again. It's not worth it even with the reward points.

I was looking at toytards.com and they seem like the best option to buy new Hot Toys within Canada, and they offer reward points as well.

Also, i read a post on the sideshow forum that you don't get hit with import fees when ordering from popcultcha in Australia.

It's completely arbitrary anything ordered from anywhere internationally can get charged fees unless the shipper pays them for you

It’s not completely arbitrary when they are charging 2+ times the import taxes for the “service” of filling out a damn form for us... which probably gets 90% filled out by a computer anyhow and only takes 5 minutes or less of their time. PLUS, they had already been paid once for the shipping of the item. They shouldn’t be allowed to charge the shipper for shipping AND the recipient for delivery. The person shipping it pays a shipping fee, which is collected from the customer already. Why the f#ck are we being billed on both ends???

Just 2 years ago I was inly paying import duties and MAYBE a $5 surcharge for them to “release the package to me” (as was told to me over the phone by a UPS employee). Does that not sound like extortion to anyone else?!?!

a lot of China sellers have fakes for sale. This one does look real though

The Resistance outfit Rey i got from Thailand seems to be legit:

One problem though, the upper part of her arm wrap is brown instead of grey. That's going to drive me nuts. I saw a post on the sideshow forums from someone who ordered theirs from popcultcha and it also had the brown wrap. I don't know why some would be made like that. The others I've seen have the accurate grey wraps. I'm gonna see if I can dye it or something.

I just got my regular Anakin a few weeks ago. Guess i will bite on this one too. Shouldn't it have some burn damage on the outfit though to re-create the duel? Or will that be another cash grab? Probably a deluxe 2 pack with battle damaged Obi-Wan too. :P
