The Emperor was cloned in the "Dark Empire" comics, but the Alliance destroyed all his cloning chambers at the end.

Good book. I like the Planet Devastators! Something like them could look cool on the big screen.

That said, I wonder what this films Battle of Hoth will be? And would anyone mind if maybe we didn't go to Tatooine this time? It is one minor thing that makes Empire stand above the rest...

I would love to have a scene with an old Luke on Tatooine for one last time staring out at a twin sunset thinking on the events of his life before he becomes one with the force while the force theme swells in the background. It could be this trilogies Twin Sunset moment, and I feel it would be a nice bookend to ANH.

Oh yeah. That would be sweet!

C'mon, you forgive me, right? Sometimes you post; "I'm sick of looking at boring sand", before you think; "this traditional setting has a lot of history, and a LOT of emotion!"

this...is an amazing idea. I'm getting chills just envisioning it playing out on the big screen.

Yeah, its easy to dismiss Tatooine sometimes. I do it myself. Tatooine can be boring (TPM), and it can be emotional (ANH). Just all how they play it. I wouldn't want it to factor into the plot heavily, but I would like to see something like that small scene I envisioned.

Yeah, sometimes you come up with something, and don't mind if Hollywood steals it from you.

Although I wasn't happy when Star Trek did this. Y'see, I'd draw these comic strips at school, and photocopy them for the small fee of 20 cents. I thought, if there's planets made entirely of gas, why not water? So, I still enjoyed the Voyager episode, but was mildly annoyed I didn't get any credit...

Never mind Walt just passed it off as his own.

I'd love to see this scene, but tweaked so that Old Man Luke has fallen asleep in his lawn chair with a beer in his good hand.

The film can open with him yelling at the younglings to get off his sand.

Don't worry, they stole it from Marvel.

OK, ONLY that one scene.

Lucas played out that damn sand ball way too much. For a planet that is the farthest from the bright center of the universe he sure crams it in all of the films. Of the other six films 5 of them have scenes taking place on it while the sixth one has it being mentioned.

PLEASE...Disney, give Tatooine a rest. Enough is enough already.

It's the Skywalker homeworld..the place where it all began. It's central to the characters .

This.

I'm sick of that planet, so I was happy when it only featured in ROTS for about two minutes.

Lucasfilm made this statement today:

Quote:
"There has been speculation about some stand-alone films that are in development," Iger tells CNBC. "I can confirm to you today that, in fact, we are working on a few stand-alone films. Larry Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are both working on films derived from great 'Star Wars' characters that are not part of the overall saga. We still plan to make Episodes 7, 8, and 9, roughly over a six-year period of time, starting in 2015. There are going to be a few other films released in that time, too."
Quote:
The Star Wars cinematic galaxy is about to experience a Big Bang. Lucasfilm is officially announcing new spinoff films that will expand the mythos and depths of the Star Wars universe in previously unexplored ways.

One of the standalone films will be written by Lawrence Kasdan, screenwriter of The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and co-writer of Return of the Jedi while the other will be penned by Simon Kinberg, writer of Sherlock Holmes and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The movies will be separate from the upcoming Episodes VII, VIII, and IX, on which Kasdan and Kinberg are also consulting, and are expected to be released sometime after Episode VII. Each standalone film will focus on a specific character, and two spinoff films are currently confirmed.

In a call to investors, Bob Iger, chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, revealed while the original focus was on the highly-anticipated sequel trilogy, the idea of spinoff films was bandied about early and the additional films are now becoming a reality. "We are in development of a few standalone films," he said, "that are not part of the Star Wars saga...there are now creative entities working on developing scripts for what would be those standalone films."

It would be awesome sauce if they adapt the Darth Sidious origins novel.

It fills in a lot of the questions about Palpatine and is a great companion novel for the Saga.

I saw this last night on IMDB. Talk about a great news getting even better!!
My only concern at this point is I keep waiting for the bottom to fall out on this whole Disney deal. What I mean by that is, everything seems to working out too well, I can help thinking some bad news is just around the corner.
I guess keep on coming with all the great news surrounding this, quickly improving, universe!
