Yep, I think Sly, Arnie, Cruise and Jackie Chan to name a few have certainly proved that stars can keep kicking ass in their later years. If only Willis had the motivation of the above actors.

Arnold was much more physical before fifty, though. I barely watch anything of his after True Lies. He used to look much better too.

Jackie Chan? Yeah, no way he could move like he did in the eighties even twenty years ago, which is why he retired from martial arts action. If anyone wanted to make a martial arts movie, they'd really be shooting their self in the foot not hiring someone younger and more able.

I don't think I've watched anything with Sylvester Stallone after Rambo 4.

That Die Hard advert was a lot of fun and i only wish Willis seemed that engaged in his more recent performances. I wonder what kind of pay cheque he got for that.

You really don't know Bruce Willis.

Of course I don't know Bruce Willis, I've never met him.

My point is that he seemed more engaged in that advert than in anything I've seen him in in years. I don't doubt that he was his usual miserable self whilst making it.

It's starting to look like the only way we're going to get a physical release of the sequels on UHD is if they reboot the original for Disney Plus

A polished turd is still...

The streaming 4K HDR10 version looks ok. It's nothing special though.

That's the ONLY Die Hard sequel that matches up to the original.

Matches it a bit too closely if anything, though at least it's done with some self-deprecating awareness of it being a blatant retread of the first one.

Better than the last three being generic action scripts with John McClane shoehorned in.

If Criterion can release Fox's Leave Her to Heaven on BD in 2020, what's stopping other labels from purchasing more mainstream movies from Disney? Perhaps a Speed UHD by Studio Canal.

Speaking purely for myself, cutesy writing in the vein of "hey, remember when we did this shit the last time?" grates on my nerves. There's a very thin line between one or two references and simply drawing attention to the fact that you're ripping a previous movie off before anyone else can. But to be completely fair to Die Hard 2, all of the reboootquels that have essentially been remakes of their forbears in the last few years have soured me on that kind of writing.

EDIT: For the record, my ranking of the Die Hard franchise is 1>3>4>2>5

My ranking:

1) Original
2) Live Free or Die Hard (theatrical cut)
3) Die Hard 2
4) Die Hard With A Vengeance
5) TURN IT OFF! TURN IT OFF!!!

I rate 2 and 3 pretty much equal, both flawed but enjoyable. 4 and 5 are mostly rubbish.

I love Die Hard With a Vengeance. The action is great, the chemistry between Bruce Willis and Samuel Jackson is natural and hilarious, and Jeremy Irons is a worthy adversary whose got great motivation. I rank this right behind the first one. I remember even as a kid that Die Hard 2 was just the exact same movie as the first.

I thought Die Hard with a Vengeance was the worst of the franchise. The Simon Says game they were playing throughout the movie was stupid.
