I've seen people mention this before and I've looked at the track list a few times and I still can't figure out which one is the "spoiler" lol!

The track you’re referring to is “The Shape Hunts Allyson.” It’s a great track but it’s not even a minute long. It’s too bad they didn’t release a longer version of it for the expanded soundtrack. There’s another version of this piece of music in the last two minutes of “Halloween Triumphant” that’s longer and more developed, but it’s slower. Would’ve been cool to hear this piece of music at the same tempo as the faster one.

Yeah, I don’t really consider that a spoiler. At least nowhere near the same level as a particular shot in the trailer.
Through The Woods is sorely missed on the normal soundtrack.

Looks like I'll be getting that issue of Fangoria with the article about Halloween Kills (if I can't get it, I could ask a friend to get a copy for me).

Have watched the first official trailer just the once (and I know this is odd, but I watched it without the audio, like I did with the first full-length trailer for the previous Halloween film). Quite enjoyed reading a Screen Rant article after the trailer had been put up on the web (it went into detail about various details in the trailer, some of which I missed, which was understandable with how fast the clips whizzed by).

Went to see The Night House tonight (good film). Was hoping to see the Halloween trailer on the big screen but no such look. Probably be attached to Malignant next month.

Haven't yet watched this week's edition of The Film Review (hoping The Night House is featured on it. In today's 'i' newspaper the reviewer for that film gave it three stars).

Thinking about going to see Candyman the week after next (thought there was an existing thread for it in this sub-forum. There is one thread, but there have only been two or three posts in it). It's similar to the North American Blu-ray thread for the original Charlie's Angels TV complete series set (couldn't find the thread recently).

My sister prefers to see Malignant, so going to see that next month, might grab Candyman on Blu-ray.

I wish HALLOWEEN '18 would've featured the classic '78 Laurie's Theme and updated it a bit. That piece of music is so synonymous with the character.

I emailed someone at Fangoria Magazine and inquired a bit more about the October issue and HALLOWEEN KILLS.

They confirmed the SUBSCRIBER ONLY cover will feature Michael. I asked if an alternative photo of Michael would be used for the newsstand edition and mentioned Michael appeared on the cover of EVERY newsstand issue since Halloween 4. (The Halloween II cover used the pumpkin skull poster art).

The reply I got back was they haven't formally announced what the newsstand edition cover will be, only that it will be completely different and unrelated to HALLOWEEN KILLS. If I had to take a guess, it would likely be Chucky, since the new TV show debuts in October.

So, if anyone wants to get the Michael/Halloween Kills cover, you have to spring for a year subscription (4 issues) which is about $80. But I was mailed a coupon code which would take it down to about $60.

If anyone's interested in subscribing and wants the discount code, PM me and I'll email it to you.

Thanks for the update. I'll likely get the newsstand edition then. I don't get Fangoria (and Rue Morgue) magazine very often, only once in a blue moon if there is a special reason for getting it (which for me would mainly be for the Halloween films or a specific slasher horror (there was an edition of one of the aforementioned magazines a long time ago with a cover for Curtains).

Yeah, I'm on the fence. I definitely want the Oct. issue and the Jan. issue (from what I hear SCREAM will be on the cover).

But beyond that I have no idea if there are any movies coming out in May and July that I'm really interested in that would justify a full year's subscription.

I was in Barnes & Noble yesterday and picked up a copy of the new issue of sci fi magazine since it featured an article on HALLOWEEN KILLS.

Today I took photos of the article to share with all my fellow Halloween peeps if you care to read it and check out the pics. Obviously I'm spoiler tagging it. One thing I was kind of surprised to learn of was David Gordon Green being involved in cutting the trailer.

Also, I'm kind of concerned after seeing one of the pics, they're walking a fine line between Michael being Michael and Michael being Jason!

Enjoy the article and photos!

(Mods, if it's not permitted to upload a published magazine article, please delete my post).

Thanks.

I can't completely speak for how you feel since everyone has a different perception of who Michael is and what he's supposed to act like/represent.

But having seen the film a year ago, I think they skirted that line as best as they could. Sure, you get more kills, creative kills in fact, and that kind of comes with the territory. And it fits the story and the overall narrative. It'd be a bit boring/redundant to watch Michael kill so many people with just a knife stab, or a neck break.

With that in mind, I think they struck the perfect balance in terms of how far they 'can' go with having Michael be all out brutal, yet still have elements of The Shape. He's still The Boogeyman. Those elements of him still exist, and are quite present in Kills, especially narratively. I found myself being able to 'excuse' some of the more grotesque, or I guess 'Jason'-like kills due to that fact. Michael's DNA is still here, even if it's dialed up to 11.

And for those that want classic Michael, you'll get him too, and its glorious. So it's definitely a stylistic choice on behalf of the narrative, and the current state of horror - and where the filmmakers wanted to take the character. They show in this film, without spoilers, that they understand 100% how to film, write, and make '78 Michael work. So I personally am able to give them free reign with where they wanted to take their version of the character.

Just my two cents!

Thanks SamuelLoomis for sharing your thoughts. That's reassuring, especially from the perspective of someone who's seen the film. I feel more confident after reading your post that they struck the right balance between 'classic' Michael and 21st century Michael without pandering to those seeking gory deaths since H'18 had it's share of off screen kills that many seemed to take issue with.

I can't wait to see H:Kills in a theater on the biggest screen possible!

Of course!

The gore-heads will be pleased, it's a gory film, at least the cut that I saw was. But I feel like you still got plenty of classic Michael, and plenty of story/character to kind of balance that out. Who knows though, we'll just have to see what you think when you see it!

Halloween Kills will most likely lose a large number of its imax screens, because of this. I know If Venom Sticks with October 15th now, my theatre is going with Venom over Halloween Kills.

I wonder how people will respond to Karen and Tommy being the leads.
