I watched the Final Cut BD tonight with Atmos
and overall it was the best it's ever looked and sounded to me

will prob re-watch Redux and compare with last BD over next week
but can't see me going back to that now
(had quick look at the new Theatrical/Redux BD first, and checked certain scenes and encoding/bit rate
is much more erratic and lower than Final Cut BD but it didn't seem as bad as I was expecting in motion)

I def missed some of the scenes for Redux so not sure I'm a fan of Final cut
for me Theatrical works best for when I want quick snack
and Redux for when I want full meal

but typically the Final Cut BD has Atmos and better encoding

Atmos Sound for Final Cut is awesome, colours are great too
and I still have the UHD's to look forward too when I upgrade

Not the Dolby True HD (same mix as done at the time of the redux), nor the DD 5.1 at 448kbps (restored original mix), nor the Dolby Surround 192kbps (original Dolby Stereo mix).

What is that other 5.1?
It's just a lossy version of the TrueHD Mix. Total waste of space really.

I'd like to know the thought process on how they decided which audio tracks would go on discs 1-4 (aside from the Atmos mixes).

Does iTunes have the option to select the 5.1 restored original mix with the 4K version?

What was the changed line of Willard's that made its way into the old TC?

Have ordered the boxset from eBay and cancelled the pre-order of the other edition.

Decided I wanted all 3 cuts and Hearts of Darkness, under £33 so I'm quite pleased.

When he gets off the boat at Do-lung, he says something like "I'm gonna go look around, see if I can get some information" while in Redux/alt-theatrical it's "going to try to find to some fuel"

The Atmos contains the Redux line cited, on the theatrical cut?

Yeah, the altered line about finding fuel is in the TC on the UHD. Whether it's a mistake or whether FFC just decided it fit better in the TC is anyone's guess. The only version with the original line is the TC in the BD included with the UHD set, and only on the "restored original audio" Dolby Digital option.

Was Willard’s response to “do you know why you can’t step into the same river twice” removed on purpose in The Final Cut? He just nods now.

I redeemed my digital code on iTunes and the original line is on the Theatrical Cut when I watch it my computer and iPhone.

I do not have an Apple TV, so I'm not sure if the TC is available in 4K, but if it is in 4K does it have the original line? Very curious to find out!

Dear Lord this transfer!

I'm reminded of a comedy sketch involving a used car salesman called Swiss Toni that was quite popular in the UK some years ago.........bear with me here.....

Yes....this transfer is very much like making love to a beautiful woman Paul.....you take your disc, stick it in, sit back and enjoy the ride....and when it's all over, the epicness of it starts to sink in and your left breathless and speechless :-)

Really nice set I'm glad to have in my collection. PQ is gorgeous.

Unfortunately I'm in the minority in that I just don't enjoy the movie itself very much. I've watched it a few times now, and I just can't get into the story. I find it very unnecessarily long and boring.

Maybe I'll try viewing the theatrical cut and see if it grabs me.

Repeating my question one more time. I noticed while watching The Final Cut that when Willard is asked by the woman in the French plantation sequence if he knows why he can’t step into the same river twice, his response (“because it’s always moving”) has apparently been removed (he just nods his head). Anyone else notice this alteration? I found it very strange personally.
