Do you really believe if Amazon had the problems shipping disc as you seem to believe they would make some kind of adjustments. You sound like those that used to say, “Received my rental disc in the mail, inserted disc in the player and it would not play. Ejected and noticed the disc had a small crack on the edge.”

'Justice League' Surprises Some HBO Max Subscribers With Accidental Debut - Hollywood Reporter 3/8/21

Quote:
The anticipated four-hour cut from director Zack Snyder played for some users who attempt to access 'Tom & Jerry.'
Fans have been waiting years for its arrival, and on Monday, Zack Snyder's Justice League came 10 days early for some HBO Max subscribers.

For reasons unknown, when some users attempted to play Tom & Jerry, the new CGI/live-action hybrid film from director Tim Story, the upcoming Justice League cut played instead. The anticipated four-hour film from Zack Snyder is not due out until March 18.

"Zack Snyder’s Justice League was temporarily available on HBO Max and the error was addressed within minutes," the streaming service said in a statement.

The Justice League error first came to light when Doug Bass of Charlotte, North Carolina, noted it on Twitter. Bass told The Hollywood Reporter he attempted to watch Tom & Jerry, but instead was able to access one hour of Justice League before it was cut off. When Bass tried to restart the film, Tom & Jerry played instead, suggesting that users were able to cache a certain amount of the film in the window it was available.

Several other users have noted this error, and THR was able to access Justice League via HBO Max. When THR attempted to play Tom & Jerry, first an error message appeared, and then Snyder's Justice League cut began. When pausing the film, it said you are watching Tom & Jerry.

By Monday night, Twitter sent takedown notices on behalf of Warner Bros. to those who shared screenshots.

When there isn't a pandemic raging, I do plenty of socializing with my family, my friends, my neighbors, and the people that I meet through them. I attend various public venues and events as well. I also volunteer some of my time where and when I am able.

I shop at a retail chain store to get what I need/want and to get the hell out as quickly as possible. I'm not at Walmart, or any other big box retail store, to meet people.

So does the UK have any good stores for media at all? Or is stuff really jacked up unless you buy it from Amazon UK?
We have HMV that have stores but even they have a online store. Sadly, our city centre shops are falling like dominoes, that’s all stores, not just media. Our government t want to tax online deliveries and purchases to boost the local shops but that’s a pretty shitty move imo. No matter, online will always win the day, working families rely on it for gifts, food, and general purchases.

Used Amazon (along with several labels directly) and I honestly haven’t had a problem in ten years.

I could quite easily. I’m really not a people person and I have suffered social anxiety all my life. Obviously I have to work and I force myself to dine out and go to the cinema. Once I’m settled and the lights go down, I’m fine but getting there is a challenge. It’s a horrible condition. Thankfully, I have a great family and a very small but fantastic group of long time friends who understand and help me as much as possible.
It takes a lot out of my body and mind just to get through a typical week. Basically, large crowds are my worst nightmare.

Many of the shops are also moving to out-of-town locations where the rates are less expensive as well. For example in my local town, we used to have a small Currys/PC World store right in the centre. This closed a few years back but has moved to a much larger unit in a retail park just a couple of miles outside town, and I gather the rates they pay here are substantially less than before even though it's a much bigger store.

There seems to be plenty of cafeterias around town - Costa Coffee's and such places. Greedy councils and landlords do not help matters sadly. However, I agree with you - I can't think of any retail business that doesn't offer an online alternative to bricks and mortar stores.

The replacement had a bent slipcover and a loose disc, but it worked. Only place that actually hasn't had any damage was from Best Buy but I would rather go into the physical Best Buy store and choose my own movie. I know exactly what I'm getting and the condition it's in. If I can't get it in store, I will go online but most things I buy are new and can be bought at the store.
If you're primarily buying newer movies then that makes sense. I have been building my classic movie collection and finding those in stores is virtually impossible apart from Criterion's at Barnes & Noble. But, knock on wood, it is exceedingly rare that I received a damaged case or disc. Even my imports from the UK arrive in great condition.

I'm in grocery stores, Target, hardware stores and others on a weekly basis. Just because I buy movies online doesn't mean I'm a hermit. If I could acquire the disc I want in store at a comparable price I would have no problem buying in person. But unfortunately that's not the case most of the time.

Opened my Amazon account in 2004, been a Prime member since the program began in 2005, and my online ordering has increased each year with not only Amazon, but with a whole range of other online retailers. I can't foresee anything that would make shopping in stores attractive to me again.

I think I read that online deliveries will be taxed at least 2% (carbon tax)
Not sure how they will change the script when we have electric car deliveries but they will think of something the robbing gets! and also online shopping will be taxed similarly. That may rise due to the pandemic, any excuse mate!

Oh, I'm sure they'll have something up their sleeve, you can count on that.
Fewer petrol/diesel cars on the road will mean less fuel tax revenue for the government, so something will have to replace that - extra tax on electricity, taxes on online shopping/deliveries as you rightly mention, and who knows what else.

Disney has been very good at responding to any depiction that might offend someone with warnings, but like everything, you are looking at animation history, like art.

?

You have suggested a few times that movies aren't art. Can you explain ? I know there's art at museums but film is an art form.

I'm sure I don't understand so please clarify.

Didn’t ever say that, I stated films are works of art, and that was against people that claimed they own media or digital content and can do with it as they wished. Your a limited licensee depending on what you acquired.

I was sure I didn't understand.

Thanks

Now, if I buy a shirt with a logo on it ... I don't own that logo but I do own that shirt and can do with it whatever I want for the most part.

If I buy a movie on disc, ..... I own that disc. I don't own the movie in some sense of the word but I own that copy of it.

I'm fairly sure I will have access to most if not all of my collected movies for the duration of my life.

I looked at my copy of Whip it the other day starring Ellen Page and realized now most places credit Elliot Page.... I wonder if credits for movies like this will be altered in the online copies. iTunes lists this movie with Elliot but for now the credits haven't been changed.
