Save your time. I saw the first one and Meh. Unless they're $5 each, I'm passing on them

Ditto. I saw both and barely found them alright. I have no intention of owning them as I have no interest in watching them again.
As for the movies, I like both Nolan's and Burton's for different reasons. I find each have their strengths and weaknesses but both are really enjoyable to watch.

Because the opted for a more realistic view of Batman, you lose the Lazarus Pit (which is an integral aspect of Ra's al Ghul character). Also you are limiting which villains you can use and end up with crappy ones (Dark Knight Rises). Talia could have been a good villain but they didn't utilize her properly in DKR. And Bane he is not a strong enough character to be the main villain. He needs a supporting villain which DKR was lacking. Also can we have it so we can understand Bane without having to put subtitles on. Oh and if are making a Batman movie can we have Batman in it for more than 10 minutes? Comic books are not meant to be realistic so why do you think you can go ahead and change the source material in an attempt to make a more realistic movie. All you are doing is insulting the long time comic book fans. Tim Burton embraced the comics. You sure as heck won't see mind controlled penguins in a Nolan film or a bunch of penguins carrying Penguin into the water (which is one of the most memorable scenes in any Batman movie imo).

With that being said, I have hope with Zack Synder. He has shown that he can make faithful adaptations of comic books (Watchmen) and I cannot wait to see Batman/Superman.

I'm pretty sure I just pissed of a lot of people with my rant.

I can understand about the animation. Its not for everybody. Though remember they don't have near the budget of a Disney film. Its still pretty impressive what they can do on a limited budget.

Have you read the Dark Knight Returns graphic novel? If not, I highly suggest you read that before watching the movies. You will end up appreciating the movies more.

Have you guys read the graphic novel? Because the movies are a pretty darn good interpretation of the graphic novels. Granted if you didn't like the graphic novel, you wouldn't like the movies.

There are as many different Batmans as there are pizzas -- even within the comic books.

None of the movies have portrayed the Batman which I prefer -- which is a Darknight Detective.

Burton's is a more stylized version with the over-the-top acting and sets.

Nolan's are a more gritty modernized version which would never have been made if not for the success of the Burton films.

The animated ones are hit and miss. The better ones are more like the comics, but I would say they are few and far between. BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES had it the closest, I would say.

Agreed. Batman: TAS is the best portrayal of Batman. Too bad we will never get it on blu-ray.

So I have been having a problem lately which might seem dumb to some but it is a big issue for me. Any orders that ship from BC are fine but the ones that ship out of Ontario have been reeking of Febreze. And not only do I hate the smell but I am allergic so that is not a good thing for me. If it was just the outside of the box I would think it ended up on the UPS truck next to something else that had Febreze but the smell is far stronger on the inside and on the package contents so it seems to be that Amazon are using it. With Blu-Rays it isn't too bad since I am not in contact with the case enough and can air them out a bit (Although even then just opening the case to get the Blu-Ray out makes it hard to breathe). But like today I got a graphic novel that I would be in close contact with while reading which as of now I can't do and will have to send it back if airing it out by a window fails (And Febreze is a nightmare to get the smell out so it probably will). I can't even fathom why they would use it with Blu-Rays and stuff because it isn't like you need to keep them fresh. So all I can see is it is being pumped into the warehouse in Ontario and not BC or something So was just wondering if anybody else have been having their orders reeking of Febreze or if I am just having some weird bad luck?

Also not happy they have had WCW War Games in stock for days now and my order has not shipped when I am a Prime member. Why are WWE Blu-Rays next to impossible to find in Canada as of late? See the DVD's everywhere and not the Blu-Rays. If the Blu-Rays didn't have exclusive features I would just get the DVD's since it isn't like you are getting better picture short of the new documentary interviews with these releases of old footage that wasn't shot in HD. But foolish to get less content and skip the Blu-Ray exclusives.

Still debating if I should get it. I remember liking them when I saw them as a kid 20 years ago but not sure I'll enjoy them today... not sure if it has been cheaper but the price seems good for this set.
As I mentioned in the fs/bb thread:

BB has the Planet of Apes Collection (5 films) for $44.99 but it's $24.99 at FS & WM so I pm at BB and got it for $22.99, that's less then $4 each.

Let us know if the order actually gets sent.
It looks like they'll send out my order of Playtime but they will take their sweet time in doing so:

The same thing happened when I tried to order Bird With the Crystal Plumage. Even though it was OOP it still allowed me to place an order. I got an estimated delivery date (a 2 month window) like you. Eventually they cancelled my order. Hoping you have better luck.

Also, Criterion haven't lost the rights to Playtime. It's just OOP until the re-release all of their Tati's (except Trafic), probably next year sometime. So you may want to wait anyway.

It says its NTSC, so you should be able to play it on a regular dvd/blu ray player. If it doesnt, complain to amazon and they'l likely correct the issue for you.

Found these with a release date of September 24. Looks like they are re-releasing them with new slipcovers.

Yes, I am fond of slipcovers and try to collect many of 'em etc. However, when they release the same film over and over in different forms of cases etc, it really does flood shelves. You think these cases will merely disappear right after Halloween? Yeah right, they'll be sitting on some shelves for months if not longer. Warner is the worst offender for constant re-releases of the same films.

Yeah, but obviously it works for them. People are buying multiple copies of the same movie for a slipcover.
