Weird, because they were working for me earlier, and if I copy the links from my post into another tab directly, the Synapse images load on their own.

Same here.

As for Synapse's releasing a 4K UHD of this title, yeah, right. Tell me another one. Although by the time they get this release out maybe 4K UHD will have enough market potential to make it worth their while.

Okay I have no idea what's going on with Synapse's images. They just aren't loading correctly. What I did instead is I changed their screenshots to links instead of posting them here as images. So you'll see the link to their image. If I click the link, and open it in a new tab, it won't load. However, If I copy the link address and manually load it into a new tab manually, it loads. I have no idea why.

So if you want to see their comparisons next to my screenshots, open the link in a new tab, and if it doesn't load, copy and paste the link back in the same tab and load it again. I have no idea why they won't load when clicked directly from my posts. I think the images won't load if it sees the referrer is another website, so you have to put the image address in directly, or view it from their own page.

Here's their own page that provides links to their comparisons if you want to load them directly from there. They seem to work from their own page:

Okay, I'll tell you "another one". A UHD Blu-ray of the Synapse Films version of SUSPIRIA is a definite possibility. It's actively being explored.

You could have made my day if you had said "is definitely happening this year".

I'm strictly speaking for myself here but if you guys need more time, say Q1 2018, to release a Suspiria BD/UHD combo then I'm all for it...

I'm sure it's being "explored" and is a "possibility", but I don't believe for a second it'll actually happen this early in the format's life cycle and from a boutique label to boot.

I would love to be proved wrong however, as I would actually have a legitimate reason to purchase the Synapse Films release.

I would be relieved if he said NOT happening this year, as I really don't want this release to have the price pushed through the roof by being packaged with a disc I can't play

Hopefully there will be a few options to choose from, including "the ultimate UHD + BD combo" etc...

I still prefer Synapse's screenshots honestly, but everyone has their own preferences. I think Synapse's version will look even more bold and colorful, while retaining more accurate skin tones. A film like Suspiria can't help but look colorful, but I think Synapse will reveal an even more colorful presentation (not over-saturated or over-contrasty, just more colorful). I think their remaster will look more pleasing. To me, greenish tints in general just look sickly.

I don't think people will be disappointed by the Italian disc. I just think that Synapse will be my preferred version based on their screencaps so far. None of us will know for sure until we have Synapse's version to compare to directly.
Your series of posts is all true. I just think most people you referred to that said "the screenshots are wrong" were more saying "the screenshots are misleading as it looks great if you actually watch it." (Those two you quoted weren't, though!!) Maybe some others were saying the former, I just know that I wasn't. And yes, it's because of your eyes adjusting to it. I'm glad that you, unlike some of the anti-Italian crowd, actually bought it and watched it. As you say, it looks good. And yeah, I'm quite sure that once the Synapse comes out, if you played both on TVs next to each other, the Synapse will most probably be the preferable of the two. But as you say, I doubt many would be disappointed by the Italian disc.

In summation, thanks for the measured review and posts!!

I would much rather pay more now for UHD than A) Never get a UHD or B) Need to buy a whole new UHD release in the future.

I'd prefer the option between a less expensive BD only release, and a more expensive premium steelbook BD/UHD combo. I would gladly scoop up the premium edition. I don't know how practical any of this is, but I think it would satisfy most customers.

I really want the UHD/Blu-Ray steelbook to come out this year rather than a few years from now since i'm already in the 4K UHD camp.

I always want to say that I don't want to risk the rights going to a different label, and a future UHD being done poorly.

I don't even have a UHD player yet. My first UHD disc was Passengers since it came in a nice steelbook with the blu-ray and 3D blu-ray, all for around $25. I'm betting Suspiria would look amazing on UHD (would it have HDR - not sure if that would be a good thing or bad thing for an older title like this), but I don't want to have the blu-ray delayed any longer just so it can get packaged with the UHD, and also I can't imagine what a UHD disc would cost from Synapse since just a standard blu-ray steelbook usually runs around $46 shipped. If I could buy both together for a reasonable price without having to wait another year than that would be something I'd consider, but I doubt a UHD from Synapse would fall under my definition of "affordable". As it is their blu-rays aren't what I consider affordable, but I make exceptions for some of my favorites like this and Demons (and Deadly Spawn when it hits - I hope that ends up being a nice steelbook too).

Not sure if this has been shared yet, but Don May Jr. commented on an Instagram post of his today and said...

"We'll have an interesting update in June for those awaiting SUSPIRIA. VERY interesting things currently happening with it (awaiting on certain peoples' schedules, of course)."

Getting me even more excited

I know Argento and most of the cast are at Texas Frightmare in May, Hopefully they will get some new interviews when they are all together.

I stand by what I said.

None of the screenshots match what I see on my displays ( both plasmas). I explained in an earlier post the differences I was seeing on the bat scene and the blue/ green areas on wall following it, since that was an example being discussed.

Let me guess, the update will be: " we're getting close to finishing this, very soon!" Meaning another 2 years.
