The best entry point is I, IV or VI with VI being the best, imo.

go figure

Final Fantasy VI is on the wii virtual console, you should've played that if you wanted a good FF

Really. He plays the worst representation of the genre in a family of games that spans 30+ and asks what's so special about the entire brand.

Amazing.

That's like playing Wand of Gamelon or Hotel Mario and asking what makes Zelda or Mario Bros. special.

Well at the time, it wasn't.
Do you think I would have gone with a new title I never heard of, if there were other choices?

The way I see it, games in a franchise are all pretty much the same. When you buy a Zelda, Sonic, Mario, GTA, etc. game, you know exactly the experience you're getting. So since I hated "My Life as a King" I have no intention on buying another FF game.

That game really has nothing to do with the Final Fantasy series other than being branded as a Final Fantasy game for sales.

It really is poor game with the name of Final Fantasy throw on it up some sales.

Sorry you bought that lemon... Just know the core Final Fantasy series is a million times better than that simulator set in a sort of Final Fantasy realm that is My Life as a King.

That's because you played a stupid kiddie FF game. The Crystal Chronicles was a dumbed series of FF games, mainly for Nintendo consoles. The mainline Final Fantasy games with numerical names is largely excellent and vastly better than the CC games. Though I do think the last few FF games have been disappointments, namely XV by moving to action RPG which I hate.

IMO, it's the most overrated gaming franchise in history followed closely by Halo.

As highly touted and fondly remembered as FF7 is, Suikoden 2 came out the same day, was barely noticed, and it absolutely DESTROYS FF7 in every respect!

That's like saying "well I hated the Donkey Kong drums game, so I'll never try Donkey Kong Country." Or "I hate Dr. Mario so I'll never play Super MArio Bros." Completely different series. Apples and oranges.

Be the first to experience the power of a home entertainment system on the move. By simply lifting the Nintendo Switch console from the dock, it will instantly transition to handheld mode, and the same great gaming experience that was being enjoyed at home now travels with you. Pre-order the Nintendo Switch from 07:00 BST 6am on Friday, 13 January.

Saves me getting up at 4am! I will be up at 6:50 hitting F5

I'm still not convinced with this list of titles that will be on demo.
  1. Has Been Heroes - Indie viking style action game. Being developed by Frozenbyte.
  2. Fast RMX - Fast Racing NEO redone on Switch with new content. 2
  3. Snipperclips - Small title that uses the two joycons for two players.
  4. Super Bomberman R - Surprise!
  5. Arms - Fantasy fighting game. All characters have long arms w/ different powers. TW101 Artstyle.
  6. Disgaea 5 Complete
  7. Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers - Port with new content.
  8. Super Mario Odyssey - New 3D Mario title. Logo has a plane in it, implying a new flight mechanic.
  9. 1 2 Switch - The Switch's minigame compilation.
  10. Splatoon 2: It's A Sequel Now. You Should Buy It Now.

The title for the Mario game is the same as the one given to the Beyond Good and Evil 2, surely they won't both have the same subtitle?

Hopefully the new Mario game is closer to Super Mario 64 than the previous "3D" Mario titles. Sunshine, Galaxy, and Galaxy 2 weren't nearly as good as 64.

You won't be able to access the shoulder buttons that way.

It would be a good test of the Switch build quality, it would probably snap in 2
