I placed an order for the MM2/Swinging Barmaids bundle plus Primal Scream. There are a couple of the drive in double features that I would like but not at $25 a pop.

The thing that never happens, happened. Someone wanted the two in the five pack, in which I was not interested, and they wanted Swinging Barmaids, which I already have. I got Steel Arena for twenty and the three DF Drive Ins for 35. (He spotted me a whole dollar on top of it, which means I'll probably be expected to drive them over to his house, once they've arrived.) Good day was had in my house, at least by me.

Also, looking forward to having the time to watch the last hour of the video. If I paid someone to do reversible artwork and they didn't, I'd never let them live it down. I'd make them print an apology card to put in my next release, where they would have to describe themselves as lazy and drunk and promise to go to rehab or something equally ridiculous, just to teach them a lesson. It would be double-sided and have a photo of them with their mother, wagging her finger, wearing a DF t-shirt.

An excellent test to see who would pay $60 for The Farmer. (Not me.) I bet they could have pushed this to 60 per disc and still sold out.

Seems like the general prices in the new superstore are higher than before.

Wish there was more listed at Hamilton book type prices

20 per, for all the new releases, when purchased in a variety of two packs, and then 12 per DF 2 pack Blu-ray, if purchased in a set of all 5, and all with free shipping. Prices worked for me and I'm the resident poor person, who is willing to admit it, on the CR and VS boards.

I think DF is taking the road of marketing where new is cheaper than old, to encourage purchasing early, to make back that investment. It makes much more sense than having it cheaper later. In a world where people wait so long to buy, such that the distributors don't make back the money they invested, the distributors then don't have enough money to get the next releases purchased and restored.

Like any house, you build up from the bottom and every level relies on the one below it for support. When a German company put out the original Angel, it sold so slowly, and over such a length of time, that, even though it sold out, they couldn't afford to do Avenging Angel, let alone the whole Quadrilogy. (For any who don't know, the Quadrilogy is Angel I, II and III and Jailbait. Angel IV is largely unrelated and had no connected with RVO, except basically the title and the embarrassment he felt when it came out.) Had fans ordered immediately, which admittedly would have required the distributor to actually market the thing, they could have done that whole series and I'd be watching my second favorite film of all time right now. (Yes, Jailbait Unrated is my second favorite film, of over 5000. It is terrible in the best way, even on lowly VHS.)

No, prices are still crazy. It's just that some people are crazy stupid. It's shady fleabay style business model regardless.

Nah, they just recruited friends and family members to "purchase" copies at inflated prices to make it appear there's a market - same as is done on ebay. They'll give those people their money back minus a small tip. There's a whole industry out there dedicated to creating artificial demand for profit. I, for one, am NOT falling for this scam. Even if the Farmer were released tomorrow, I wouldn't touch it at an inflated price, especially if it's just a disc in a generic case.

The funny thing about Butcher Baker is that it was a Diabolik Exclusive. Diabolik wanted more copies, Jesse was told no more left and now Bill is selling the remaining copies at inflated prices. Not shady at all.

I already own it and don't really care, it's just funny that's how they are continuing to run their business. They can do what ever they want. I can buy the ones I want at good prices and laugh at stuff when I feel like it.

Exactly.
Dark Force can charge what they want because at the end of the day there will be someone who will pay these prices.

The problem is that these titles are not out of print. Bill still has boxes of them and when people complain that they want to buy it he throws up for sale at inflated prices. Scalping your own product has to be the scummiest move a label can do.

It is a bad move i agree. That is why it’s always better to buy them right away at a reasonable price before the inflation begins.

I just find it odd that people think its horrendous to sell a movie for $50, but if you put the same disc in a fancy cardboard box with some liner notes, then all of a sudden paying $50 becomes okay - if not cool.

I do understand there is a value to case art (to some people, not all), but at the end of the day you're still paying $50 for a movie. I think the fancy cardboard box just helps some people justify the cost better, even if it obviously is nowhere near that expensive to make a cardboard box.
