I was actually thinking some recent movies that could've used one theatrically, specifically The Last Jedi and Blade Runner 2049.

As a comic book nerd I'm estatic how the infinity gauntlet and stones have gone mainstream.

What I love most about Infinity War is it doesn't play like your generic paint by numbers Marvel movie. It's really an unconventional film that has no essential structure, really.

There's no beginning, middle, or end. Everything just happens and once it begins, the movie never stops. The only three act story is Thanos. He's the main character here. He's on this Quest.

We follow Thanos on this 150-minute journey as he pushes past the many obstacles he encounters in the form of The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. To accomplish his one goal. And he succeeds! How many films can one name where the villain/antagonist actually triumphs over the hero(es)?

The realization is, Infinity War is a film that plays much like a comic book. Nearly every shot works as an illustrated panel or massive splash page.

The best way to look at Avengers: Infinity War is viewing it as this large tapestry of the Marvel Cinematic Universe where several franchises come together.

Also, to those saying it was never a ten year in the making film, bullshit. It most certainly was. Had there never been ten years worth of films prior to its release, Infinity War would've been called an overly ambitious and crowded failure.

A four-hour movie does need an intermission.

A three-hour (or less) movie simply doesn't.

I know we live in an era of deteriorating attention spans, but that's no excuse.

Agreed but only if they replace Ruffalo. I loved him when he was cast and he smashed it in the first Avengers. A true highlight. After Thor 3 and this, he's clearly had enough of Marvel.

It’s not just about length, it’s also breaking up the flow of the movie to help it go along better.

I really like the build-up of this scene, the rumbling of the spaceship, the chaos on the streets and the tension building, it's a nice long take in which you feel the anticipation of the battle, doctor strange and tony gearing up for the inevitable confrontation. Going handheld with the camera gives the scene a certain documentary visceral momentum. Good stuff.

Strange, Mantis, Iron Man and Spider-Man don't love Gamora. Nebula didn't do it because she knew she wouldn't succeed.
