The secondary explosions from the "outgassing" chemicals would trigger the San Andreas fault and the west coast would fall into the sea.

Sadly that would probably just accelerate physical media's demise. The studios would probably just call it a day and go 100% streaming. Cost too much to rebuild they would say.

Hey, I was just explaining their thinking. I'd definitely prefer if they'd include the standard Blu-ray version as well - that's why I ordered the UK version for myself. But as I said, it's not greed. Just that the free ride is pretty much over.

My complete adventure directors cut finally arrived today but it was in a bubble mailer that looked like it had been run over multiple times.the packaged all crushed and smashed in(surprisingly the discs in great shape though.i requested a call from amazon explaining for 90 bucks for one movie they shouldnt be mailing it in a cheap bubble mailer. they offered a full refund and said i could keep or donate the set.
so ill probably just stick the 3 discs into the 6 movie collection set. but now i am worried the 6 movie collection will arrive the same way.

Why is the UK set 5 disks and the US set 3?
What's missing in the US set?

What are the Run-Times for each of the three versions of the Movie?

The studios were including DVDs for ages along with blu-rays. And DVDs have been outdated for a decade-and-a-half. At least blu-rays are still HD and look great upscaled on 4k TVs. They're not obsolete.
I haven't upgraded to 4K.Still on Blu Ray.I have many 4K disks because either the store exclusive is for the 4K release but has the Blu Ray copy and I get that or I'm getting something that I don't have on disk for the first time and the newest version is a 4K + Blu Ray combo. For example,I got Lifeforce,The Funhouse,The Fog(coming in today with my ST DE) and the upcoming Poltergeist.I either only had them on VHS still or not at all.I'm buying the new release for the Blu Ray disk.If it's a 4k release only, then I'll pass because I don't have the tech.

With Star Trek The Motion Picture,I would of gotten the Complete Adventure release if it was like the U.K. set where it included the Blu Ray disk of the DE too.Yes,I wouldn't be a able to watch the SLC/Theatrical disk(I actually still have my VHS of the SLC and the theatrical Blu Ray) since it's 4K but I would of gotten it for the Blu Ray disk of the DE and the special features disk along with the box and swag. But since the U.S. release dosen't have the Blu Ray of the DE,there was no point in me getting The Complete Adventure.I'm not getting an expensive set even with a cool box and swag if I can't play any of the disks except the bonus features one especially if the one disk(the DE) is the main reason) I'm buying in the first place.I don't really want to hassle with the extra cost to import the U.K. version so I just went with the standard Blu Ray of the DE.That has the most important thing for me,the DE and special features disk on Blu Ray.In the end, that's all I really needed. The collectors box and swag from the U.S. TCA release was just some cool and fun add on's for me but missing the .most important part.

Right. But apart from Disco Bones™️ there are surprisingly few trappings of the decade that taste forgot in TMP. And besides, wasn't Fein's remit to make it look like a 2022 movie rather than a 1979 one?

The US set is missing the Blu-ray versions of the Theatrical and Director's cuts.

The 1979 Theatrical Version runs 131:57
The 1983 Special Longer Version runs 144:34
The 2000 Director's edition runs 136 mins

I ordered from the UK.
Two copies, they only sent one but website shows two.
They need to do an investigation and said they'll email me.
I only use my phone number to sign in.
I told the customer service rep that and they ended chat.

Just got an email confirmation of shipping of Complete Adventure set from Amazon UK. Over a week past the release date. That must be the slowest shipping I've experienced on any pre-ordered item.

Are the changes that significant between the theatrical and the director’s edition?

I wonder how much of this thread is made up of people asking about which versions are in which sets?

Why can't we have sticky posts?

Over in the 3D forum I put this kind of info in first posts, but I have no mod permissions to do so in this forum.

You'd still have people asking though...

Everything I've seen/read says the DE producers wanted to "restore" it to how it would have been in 1979 had they the time to make it so.
