Watched this in 4K last night, and it's not even in the same ballpark bad, as True Lies! It may be duo to the dark, muddy setting, but it doesn't look half as waxy as True Lies. In fact, I'm fairly happy with it. Skin tones do look "off" and it looks too clean, but detail is present. They should have kept a thin layer of grain, like they did on the Bluray version.

Hopefully more folks will opt out of preordering this one. No trouble getting a copy for me instead

He might do it if it was possible. But since the movie was shot for 1.85:1 extraction from a 1.37:1 Academy frame, any further cropping would make most shots awkwardly tight, cutting away important visual elements.

I went to an Alien/Aliens double bill about 8 years ago and they forgot to change the matting from Alien so the whole of Aliens was cropped top and bottom, looked bloody awful and asked for my money back but JC would probably love it.

Despite all you've read, despite all you've heard, despite all the AI mumbo jumbo are you still excited for this release? you still have every right to be. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise...

I am certainly conflicted. Saw the movie opening day and popped my trunk in the parking lot to make sure an alien wasn’t hiding there. I have held off on T2. Also, the grainy, rough look of the film is a positive to me. I will need to wait to see some comparisons with the BD once it is out.

If the BD was actually better I might be content. But, even w/ the existence (or lack there of) of deficiencies pointed out the 4K is still better quality overall. Then we haven't even touched on the Atmos track. I don't know how many times over the last year or so, where I've heard something was a just ok to terrible transfer, only to pick it up, pop it in, watch it, and not know what the hell they were talking about. Trading Places, Red Sonja, Picnic at Hanging Rock, National Lampoon's Vacation to name a few. But, it's all in the eyes of the beholder I suppose.
