Let me know how your new one going to be.
Ya my new one should be here friday!

Deep Discount paid for my return shipping and they also were willing to Give me A FULL REFUND! There customer service has been nothing but nice to me. The guy said that these subs are mass production like stated before in this thread, and that if the new one comes and is defective again, I can either try my luck again on another one, or he said I can get a full refund.

So i dont know why others in this thread have had problems with them. They Seem to be legit and respectable. So i guess if this new one comes and is defective, ILL just have to get a full refund and go to like best buy or ultimate electronics and just pay the price. At least if i get it at a "Best Buy" type place and if theres anything wrong with the sub, i can just go there instead of waiting for the mail.

Default just hooked up...

Hi all...

First let me say thx for the replies, I appreciate them.

I received the HD-Sub12 today, UPS, hooked it up just now, and man, it sounds great right out of the box. No tweaks yet and it sounds really good. No noise, hum, nothing but nice sound.

I have it catacorner about a foot from the wall, of course wife says it's too big, wrong position, blah, blah, blah... lol.

Only thing is for some reason, can't use the mic running from the receiver to set everything up, get an Fch error message when I try to use it so I guess I am gonna have to set everything up manually.

Anyway, I am a happy owner, for the money this sub seems awesome.

You might be getting that error because you have the sub set to "AUTO ON" Try setting it To "ON" and then seeing if it works. For some reason if the Auto On doesnt detect a noticeable tone it wont turn the sub on

I was getting this error message before I hooked the sub up... it's a new receiver, not an expensive one (Insignia, was on sell at BB), and have been using it without a sub and was getting the error message when I first hooked it up. May have to call the manufacturer and see what they advise.

Thx for the suggestion though

Well I think you are lucky indeed. I told the guy I talked to that I had done all kinds of things to get my sub to work like it was supposed to and he still didn't believe me. My amp was just weak. When running test tones I could hardly get any sound out of it at all. When I told the guy that (Andrew) he still said that I probably did something wrong on hooking it up. I repeatedly tried to explain that this wasn't my first rodeo on doing this and he still didn't believe me. Then when it came time to do a replacement he was like "ha ha you didn't fill out your warranty card we can't help you". I was very polite the whole time. I didn't use any foul language nor was I condescending in any way. I know the only way to get what you want with people is by being nice and not obnoxious...so I know that's not the reason he didn't want to help me. He was just a jerk plain and simple. Any company you deal with there's going to be those kinds of people. So I just got a bad sub and a bad customer service rep. Just bad luck all the way around. Hey you live and learn...but to say that since you didn't have a bad experience doesn't mean that they have good customer service and it's our fault that we did.

The PSW and RW subs are pretty much identical subs IMO, I think you get 1 hz better extension from the RWs then PSWs. The RW says Home Theatre series and the PSW say Audiophile Series. The PSW says High Rigidity PVA Treated Cone, Dual Linear Ports, Efficiency / Sensitivity: 97dB @ 1 watt 1 meter. The RW says Poly Zirconium Cone, Polyimide Voice Coil Former, 2 Inch Parabolic RFL Voice Coil, Efficiency / Sensitivity: 98dB @ 1 watt 1 meter
Has anyone confirmed if Auto On actually works? I just got a replacement amp for my HDSUB10 (which I just discovered is labeled HDSUB12), and when I'm listening at low volume - and I mean low volume - the sub is still active. All the subs I've owned over the years with Auto On made a distinctive switching sound when turning on or off. I don't hear a thing with the HDUSB10. I don't think it works - at least not on mine.

Mine came in almost 6pm. The box looked like it had been dropped from a moving truck, & kicked from the curb to my door. I opened the door & laughed. Inner box was in great shape though.

The good: sub looks almost as good as the pics here, after warming up for an hr it dose sound pretty good from the box (i did poly it 1st), & there is a fullness of sound that i have been missing even at the low volumes i was forced to test it on.

the bad: the polyfill matte inside was paper thin & crushed, there were free screws stuck in the glue on the back of my amp, i'm sure they would have eventually been pounded free & caused a rattle ore two, the beauty ring is not very (may black it out or subdue it w/ a deeper grey), & there was a covered gouge between the side panel & front.

I question the auto-on too. Mine never cycled off last night. Going to test that out in a few. It does have a low hum that is not variable with volume (no sound output) or plugs (rca in vs. out). i have a "real" sub cable & a matching y-cable, so can't be those. Can hear it @ 8-10 inches.

Overall, i likes, but time will tell. Gonna box up my 8incher & keep it in storage. 2may be nice in the future, but in my current living space 1 is almost too much. Time for a cal.

i tested the auto-on. by cycling my receiver on, the sub turns on (slight hum). ~ 30 secs. after placing my receiver in standby, it powers off. the led does not go off, there is no relay click or a thump, it just quietly powers down (hum just fades away). i partially cover the led now it's not visible with my biased lighting on. i kept looking at the red glow last night. for some reason they use a near blinding led.

Never said it was your fault. Just wondered why everyone else had problems. But like you said, you can get a bad Customer Service Rep. In my luck, I got a good one.

Did you get it through Amazon, directly from their site or eBay? One thing I noticed is that in Amazon there is no mention of a restocking fee for returns - whereas on eBay there is a fee (I'm thinking Amazon probably has some stricter vendor guidelines). I do get the impression they are trying their best to make sure I don't put negative feedback on Amazon.

Anyway, I received my UPS label from DD and the defective sub is on its way back. Gets there Monday, so I'm hoping a new one will be shipping out soon after that and I'll get it the following Monday (I requested a new unit, versus just having the one they sent to me be "repaired").

Fingers crossed and eagerly awaiting being able to hear what this sub can really do!

my hd sub-10 has a hum as well, but you can only hear it if you put your ear right next to the woofer. i don't believe the auto-on feature works as well. the sub's amp was always warm, not hot to the touch whether it was on or off.

it's now been retired and is ready to fill-in if one of my eD subs goes down...

Yep purchased through AMAZON. Well guys after having the run around with these customer service reps, I finally just asked for a full refund today. There CS was acting so great to me, but after numerous times of them not shipping out my new sub and delaying it and forgetting to do so, i had to get a full refund. The sub was received by them on Tuesday morning. I called they said they would ship the new one out tuesday night. Wednesday i call them and they say that they thought i wanted a full refund, I explain to them that I got it rma'ed and they were supposed to send me a new one out on tuesday, then they said they would send it out on wednesday night and i should have it by friday. Well, good thing i called today to see if they shipped it out on wed, because of course they didn't. In fact i think they forgot to do it again, because when i called the cs had to ask his manager about it and then he came back on the phone saying that it was shipped today. After entering in the UPS Trackin number, it showed it hadn't been shipped. So i asked to speak with the manager, at which point he came back on the line and said shes busy. So I told him I wanted a full refund of $198.98. He said i should get my refund within 3 business days.

I am done ordering a sub online. Can anyone tell me if BestBuy has anything similar to this sub that will hit deep bass for around $300?? I just want to get it By this weekend and be done with it. If i have problems ill just go to the store

You're going to be hard pressed to find anything in that price range at Best Buy (believe me, I searched before I bought my dual eD subs). BB really likes to push the Klipsch subs, but even the 10" is around $400+.

Don't give up so easily on ID subwoofers. One sour experience (with a company known for CS issues) should not deter you away from ID companies. Take a look at the A2-300. It is within your price range (considering you don't need to pay local tax or shipping). There have not been any issues with the subwoofers themselves recently and eD's customer service is probably the best in the business.

I 2nd that! If you can spare an extra $50 (and be patient for a few weeks) you can get the Elemental Designs A2-300.

Fantastic performing sub for $350 shipped. And I can back up Driver King's statement that eD's customer service is top notch.

I would of went with the ed in the first place but it looks huge. I dont know if it would fit in the area where it would go, because the fiance has these fake trees on each side of the TV, How much bigger is it than the AA HDSUB12

The A2-300 is huge, and WAF is a consideration. It measures somewhere in the area of 17" W x 17" H x 20" D. I don't know how that compares to Acoustic Audio, but the eD is a beast. It's definitely bigger than the Klipsch 12" at BB.

Even if you don't go with eD, I strongly recommend you find something that suits you, even if it is from an internet direct company. You'll overpay for whatever you end up buying at Best Buy (which really only offers you convenience in your case). If you're patient and do a little more research, there are some really good sub manufacturers out there.

now i want this ed sub. does it matter how i arrange it. Can i turn it so the longer side goes parallel with my back wall. Cause its 24inches long, and only 18inches wide, so does it matter which way the port faces?????
