umm... well,

Talked to the wife tonight, she likes the looks of the MRX500 and the Dynaudio Excite X16s over the Rainmakers, so we will see how it goes.... I will get the last say cause she wants me to get exactly what I want and be done with it.

the MCA 50 will be later down the line.... a few years later to be exact.

Default Energy Rear Surrounds

I'm using the Energy TakeSats for my rear surround in a 7.2 setup.
They are great solid speakers. They do exactly what I want them to for the rear sound field.

thats good, the takes do a good job as a rear speakers, they are a little smaller then my C-50, which does an excellent for a rear surround, sometimes I wonder why I got the C-100s when the C-50s do such a good job.

So I have been running my Energy fronts for over a week now and really love them. They look pretty sharp overall considering black wood is a typical and often ugly look. The magnetic grills are a nice touch and the drivers look great when they are off.

The sound is excellent! I can tell a nice difference between these and my Infinity. The RC50s really sound like I am listening to music as it was intended. The lows and low mids are very defined and mids and highs have a good presence .. snares, etc have a nice snap. Like Callas said .. very balanced all around. My Infinitys always sounded like they needed some EQ. The panning/imaging is more present in the little details also which makes listening to music more enjoyable.

BDs of course sound better as well. Since the RC50s have excellent bass I lowered my crossover to 80 and wow it sounds much better with movies (and music). Now the speakers handle a lot of the bass and the sub is more of just a polisher on the low end. I had my old speakers set to 120 xover and as a result much of my bass was often exaggerated from the sub working most of the deep lows. Overall very happy especially at the price I paid. I probably won't have any upgraditis for awhile now.. at least with my front speakers. Next, is my TV

How is that CC-10 blending with the RC-50 for you?

I'm sure it does a very honest job and sure can keep up with the RC-50, having this front sound stage I'm sur you could run 60Hz X-over unless your Receiver does not allow you to change X-over by speaker pairs.

Wait until they are fully broken in you'll be more than happy with those speakers.

hi everyone, i love my energy speakers. they literaly shake my house. i'm only running 4 CB20 ( 2 front 2 surround ), 1 CC10 center, and my sub is ESW-V10. i'm saving up to buy some towers to take over my front and then take 2 of the CB20's and convert them to rears for 7.1. nice to see lots of energy freaks on here

Bytor First Welcome to this Forum and hi to my fellow neighbour from Ontario

That's a very nice setup you have there specialy the ESW-V10 this is a beast

Very fast accurate with thunderous bass and hits quite low. That one great 10.

What towers are you planning to buy the CF-70? CF-50 or why not the smaller CF-30.
CF-30 are 249$ each right now at FS.

Hey BigAl, tnx for the kind words. i'm not sure what i'm going to get yet. i just got this set up a few months back and i want to get it paid off first, and then i will start to really start looking, but i always do have my eyes peeping around looking for deals.

yeah, i was looking at those at FS, they are $100 off for the CF30, but, i dunno, they almost look kinda small, but who knows, what the future will bring. i just want a super wall of sound!

and yeah, that bass rocks, all i can say is wow!

sweet man, i bet those rc 50's fill your room with great sound. I run my rc-10's at 60hz's and it gives them great punch, if i had those 50's then i would'nt hesitate to run those at 40hz's especially for movies IMO..

congrats man, the CB-20's is what got me interested in Energys cause they sounded so good, i acually thought those cb-20's sounded better then the energy tower that they had there at that best buy..i can't remember what tower it was but i know it was the equivalent to those CB's.

Hey there Pat, you liking your RC-10's a little better now? I'm finding the more I play mine the better they are sounding, or maybe it's just my ears getting adjusted, I don't know. I'm using and old Onkyo receiver that doesn't give me the ability to adjust the frequency so it's putting out the full spectrum. Manual says 20 to 30,000 Hz. I find the RC-10 to be quite revealing on the low end, and my sub just takes over for the really low freqs. Sometimes I'll play a tv show of movie without the sub on and I'm always surprised how low the RC-10 can get.

Still, I'm looking forward to the day when I can possibly get my hands on a pair of towers, and the RC-LCR for center. Then I can move my RC-10's to the rear. But they sure sound good up front. Of course I need a job first.

Hey Bytor, congrats on that setup. I was looking at that too, but decided to go with the RC series instead. You should put some pictures up in your gallery so we can see your set up.

Hmm... I wonder if my Surround System would sound better if I bought an upgraded more modern Sub. I have no idea how old my JBL sub is. My dad gave it to me.

ED A-2 300 would be a step up, I mean not worth going anything low budget to change that JBL sub I'm sure it performs quite well.

I don't know how it perform to you but they are generally not to shabby those JBL.

I didn't realize how much material runs through these.(the rear surrounds)
I had the protection circuit kick off in the EMO XPA 5 so the front "5" speakers were off and there was an amazing amount of rear surround content.
It was the first time I got to hear the Energy's by themselves and they sounded great.

I agree, I like the 70 hz range for all my speakers,

StatikCat, try more then just the 80 hz typical recommendation, and see what you like best in your room.

my dad has a JBL, its good, not quite as well rounded in all areas as my eD, but he doesn't play music in his HT room anyways... so he doesn't care.

hey man, you know they have really come around...the punchy bass has come in big time and the sound is so refined...to be sure if i really wanted to stay with the Linear sound i have been putting the RC's up against a set of V6 paragigm mini monitors...I do like the mini monitors and they sound great but the Energys have a competing soundstage to those but are really a lot more refined. The Paradigms do sound foward and a little on the brighter side which i do like but the Energys really shine and excell past the Paradigms when you play them load...right now i think im leaning toward the Energy but its whatever center i buy will be the clincher...Will it be the Paradigm cc-290 or the RCLCR??? im up in the air so whatever brand wins the center channel war and the overall better sound war then ill be picking one of those up...what do you guys think??
