Though I'm labeled as a disc hater. I'm excited for my remaining pre-orders the next few months:

Memories of Murder(Criterion)
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly 4K
Django 4K(Arrow)
Speed 4K
Indiana Jones 4K collection

and hopefully the Willy Wonka rumor is true

May your wish be granted, did you see this at the Bits?

While we’re talking Warner Bros, I’ve now learned from multiple industry sources the rough release schedule for many of the studio’s 2021 4K catalog titles. The Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory: 50th Anniversary Edition is tentatively set for release in 4K on 6/29.

He hates on disc every chance he gets. The fact he uses disc just makes it seem worse to me.

IMO, the poster knows disc offers the best A/V quality and something that is truly owned. Has stated he is not an audiophile and does not use a AVP or AVR so audio quality is not a high priority. Not sure if display used has been posted.

It appears some that buy disc and uses IPTV likes to come here and make anti disc post just to stir the pot.

Some here would make the case that I am a IPTV hater which is not true. Have posted my investment in IPTV devices and know of only one AVS poster that has invested more than I have in hardware. Don't know of anyone that has done as much as I in terms of IR remote control of IPTV devices.

Disc no longer offers the best quality. Streaming has caught up, its already here. Unless you have a super high-end audio system- there is no difference in the video/audio. Vincent on youtube has confirmed. In a growing amount of cases the streaming copy will offer 4K HDR/DV and no 4K disc release. However- discs remain essential for true ownership.

Not again, this has been covered ad nauseam . Why do you think Sony Bravia streaming is claiming up to 80 Mbps for that service? Maybe you should read Stacey Spears UHD Test Disc tread. For some video to be artifact free he has used > 100 Mbps.

I would imagine the Sony service is for people with $1500+ audio systems for them to get the most out of it, and thats fine. I'll check out the other thread, thanks

The Sony service is only using DTS (lossy) audio. Stated before but will state again: Video compression engineers will be the first to tell you all else being equal higher bit rates means less compression artifacts. PERIOD. Lots of info on the x265 site (here), many links to click.

Ok, thats your opinion. Thats why this forum exists, so we can share different viewpoints on this matter. What films have you used to compare? What are your results? Mine are similar to what Vincent found in this video.

Dolby Vision Streaming vs HDR10 4K Blu-ray Disc Comparison - YouTube
It wasn’t an opinion. You were stating things as fact when it’s simply not the case. Picture quality nor audio is a match for Disc equivalents.

It's been reported that Bravia Core peaks at 40 Mbps and averaging at 24 Mbps. Similar to iTunes and MoviesAnywhere.

Dolby Vision Streaming vs HDR10 4K Blu-ray Disc Comparison - YouTube
Hey,

There is no point in talking to people who haven't spent enough time in comparing quality 4K digital stream and physical. Personally I am content with 2 streaming platforms and they are comparable to discs. Soon I will be buying a 77 or 83 inch OLED and kissing my Panasonic GZ OLED goodbye. It would be interesting to see how it fairs on these screen sizes. If it looks bad then it I will be grinding my teeth but that won't stop me from enjoying both formats as it's nice to have some diversity. Personally I am not too fussed but I will be extremely selective with discs simply due to cost.

That’s the problem, ignorance is bliss. You are unsure of the quality of digital when watching on a bigger screen yet you are convinced that it’s a match for disc. You are talking out of both sides of your mouth.

I have a 75" TV and there is a discernible difference. It's not huge by any means but when I walk into the room I can tell the difference between a stream and a disc. The artifacts are noticeable if you're looking for them.

As I've said before, I have no problem watching streamed content but I would never purchase my movies via EST, primarily because I want to have ownership of my content and not be dependent upon the internet to watch a movie I own. There are actually some Film Noir's I would like to own but they are only available on streaming services. Until there is a disc release I will not spend my money.

Same here, nearly all my digital copies come from the discs. I am 100% pro-ownership. I was stating that the gap between disc vs streaming had closed in terms of quality, but i suppose not entirely

Try projecting and then try to keep a straight face when you repeat that.
