I think they had officially been and gone by the time I started collecting in 2004. There was still the odd one around at that time as I still have the Krays and Arlington Road in these cases.

Polygram video used to use them, and they haven't been round as a DVD label for ages. MGM as well, I remember buying Species in one of those cases in W H Smiths, apparently the first of those new fangled DVDs they'd ever sold in that branch.

Snappers sucked but at least they held the discs in place, unlike the dual format cases used for the 88 Asia line.

Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever ()
The Negotiator
True Crime
Space Cowboys
Interview With The Vampire (that came with a slipcase)!

I've still got a few DVDs in large jewel cases - Citizen Kane, Blood Simple, Trainspotting, and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. There's probably a few more that I've totally forgotten about too!.

A lot of my DVDs have either been replaced with Blus or given away because I know I won't watch them anytime soon and when I want to I can just replace them with a Blu-Ray then, so I've managed to knock my collection right down.

The ones I've kept are either things I haven't replaced yet but watch fairly frequently or things that have no higher definition release than DVD. Screamers is one of the frequently watched ones.

I got rid of my copy of Lock Stock which was also in a jewel case, so probably the same version as you have. I justified getting rid of it and not replacing it because I can probably visualise and quote the film from start to finish in my head, so there's literally never going to be any rush for me to get it.

MGM used those? I had Goldeneye in a snapper, so I guess MGM were hedging their bets as to which packaging became the industry norm.

While I actually preferred snappers as they seemed a more tactile and attractive than their two main contenders I can understand why the keepcase quickly became the standard despite being by far the most shelf space hungry.
